India wants an assurance from the US that no additional tariffs will be imposed by the Donald Trump administration once the bilateral trade agreement (BTA) is finalised, said people familiar with the matter. The deal is in the final stages of negotiation and both sides are hopeful of reaching accord quickly. India has sought concessions for labour-intensive sectors such as leather and textiles. 'We have put everything on the table,' said one of the persons, adding that India wants stability in tariffs once a deal is rolled out.

India's export trajectory from 2010 to 2023 has shown a consistent and steady upward trend, reflecting the resilience and dynamism of its trade sector, an official said on Tuesday. Citing an UNCTAD report, the official said that over the period from 2010 to 2023, India has been one of the fastest-growing major economies in terms of its share of global exports, achieving a growth rate of 6.3 per cent.

The Patent Information Centre of Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), Chennai has filed applications seeking Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Kollimalai Coffee and Kollimalai Palappazham. TNSCST is an autonomous organization under the Department of Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. 'We have instituted IPR cells at 40 educational institutions across Tamil Nadu. And each of them have been allocated a product which has a potential to earn a GI tag. These institutions do the research work,' S.Vincent, Member Secretary of TNSCST told The Hindu.
