The US team will visit India on August 25 for the next round of negotiations for the proposed bilateral trade agreement between the two countries, an official said on Tuesday. The official added that the two sides continue to be engaged in an interim trade deal as the August 1 deadline is approaching.

30 Jul, 2025 News Image 27 States Advancing PM Ekta Malls to Promote ODOP, GI, and Handicrafts Products.
All States are encouraged to establish PM Ekta Mall (Unity Mall), announced in the Union Budget 2023-24, for the promotion and sale of ODOP products (One District, One Product), Geographical Indication (GI) products, and other handicrafts from across the country. The Proposed Mall has provision for dedicated space for each Union Territory and State to display their ODOP products. In the fiscal year 2023-24, under Part- VI (Unity Mall) of the ‘Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2023-24 (SASCI)’ of Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance Rs.5000 Cr was allocated for construction of PM Ekta Malls in all States. Under which upon recommendation of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Department of Expenditure has approved Detailed Project Reports’ (DPRs) of 27 States.

With the global vegetable seed market projected to grow beyond $8.45 billion in 2024, India is emerging as a strong contender to become a major global hub—provided it capitalizes on its R&D strengths, regulatory reform, and agro-climatic diversity. At a national conference held in New Delhi, senior government officials, scientists, and industry leaders projected that the Indian vegetable seed market could expand from $740 million in 2023–24 to $970 million by 2030, clocking a CAGR of 4.6%, if policy bottlenecks are effectively addressed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held wide ranging talks with Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu at the President's Office in Male as both leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of India-Maldives relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties. 'They discussed cooperation in the fields of development partnership, capacity building, health, infrastructure, digital economy, aquaculture, climate change and renewable energy. The two leaders called for closer collaboration to enhance peace, progress and prosperity of the Indian Ocean region,' the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) posted on X after the bilateral discussions.

The government will organise as many as 1,000 outreach programmes, including stakeholder meetings, workshops, awareness drives and feedback sessions, in the next 20 days across the country to sensitise industry and states on the India-UK comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA), which was signed on July 24. The exercise is aimed at ensuring effective implementation and maximising benefits from the pact.

India is giving duty concessions to niche British agricultural products like cranberries, durians, certain varieties of mushrooms, leeks, lettuce, and artichokes under its free trade agreement with the UK, according to the commerce ministry. These products have negligible production in India, the ministry said.
