The two leaders held a meaningful discussion on various matters related to the comprehensive development of the rural and agricultural sectors. Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shri Bhagirath Choudhary, Agriculture Secretary Shri Devesh Chaturvedi, Rural Development Secretary Shri Shailesh Singh, Director General of ICAR Dr. M.L. The Maharashtra State Mango Growers Association (MSMGA) will organize a comprehensive conference and exhibition on Agriculture, Horticulture, Irrigation, Processing, Exports, and Solar Energy on August 7, 2025, at the National Stock Exchange (NSE), BKC, Bandra (E), Mumbai. The event marks the birth centenary celebration of eminent agricultural scientist Padma Vibhushan Dr. M.S. Swaminathan and will gather key experts and stakeholders from across the agri and allied sectors. Among the featured speakers are Dr. Sujit Kumar Shukla, Director at ICAR; Kumar Anshuman, General Manager at ECGC; and Dr. Tirthankar Patnaik, Chief Economist at NSE. Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, has invited proposals through Expression of Interest (EoI) dated 27.05.2025 under Scheme for Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure (Cold Chain scheme) of PRADHAN MANTRI KISAN SAMPADA YOJANA (PMKSY) from eligible entities (prospective entrepreneurs) across the country for setting up of Cold Chain projects. The last date of submission of online proposals/ applications on SAMPADA Portal has been extended up to 08th August, 2025; 17.00 hrs.

Mango production in India, the leading producer and consumer of the fruit, is projected to account for about 36 million tonnes (mt) in 2034, or 42 per cent of global production, destined largely for local, informal markets, according to the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2025-2034. The country’s per capita consumption is projected to increase by 1.2 per cent per annum over the outlook period, reaching 23.1 kg.

As part of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan - Vocal for Local Initiative in food processing sector, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing a centrally sponsored 'PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme' for providing financial, technical and business support for setting up of new/ upgradation of micro food processing enterprises in the country including Tamil Nadu. The scheme is operational from 2020-21 to 2025-26 with an outlay of Rs. 10,000 Crore. The scheme aims to enhance the competitiveness of micro-enterprises in the unorganized segment of the food processing industry and promote formalization of the sector.

The comprehensive economic trade agreement (CETA) with the UK is a stepping stone and will serve as a 'gold standard for more such pacts with other advanced economies, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday. He said negotiations with the US on the proposed trade agreement are progressing fast. Goyal said India has protected all sensitive sectors, including dairy, rice and sugar in the CETA. He said the agreement with the UK will help boost exports of abour intensive products such as footwear, textiles and gems and jewellery.

The Second Round of negotiations for the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) concluded successfully today in New Delhi, further advancing the shared objective of strengthening bilateral trade and economic partnerships. This development catalyses the shared commitment to deepen economic ties and guidance given by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi during the visit of the Right Hon’ble Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand in March 2025. The FTA was launched during the meeting between Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal and Hon’ble Mr. Todd McClay, Minister for Trade and Investment, Government of New Zealand on March 16, 2025.

The government will organise as many as 1,000 outreach programmes, including stakeholder meetings, workshops, awareness drives and feedback sessions, in the next 20 days across the country to sensitise industry and states on the India-UK trade agreement, sources said. The exercise is aimed at ensuring effective implementation and maximising benefits from the comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA), which was signed on July 24.
