India is projected to grow at 6.4 per cent in fiscal year 2025 and 2026, and the country's stable growth is driven by a reform momentum supporting robust consumption growth and a push for public investment, the International Monetary Fund has said. The IMF released its World Economic Outlook (WEO) Update on Tuesday.

31 Jul, 2025 News Image 9 firms sign deals to import soyabean oil from China into India.
Nine Indian companies, including Patanjali Foods, Adani Wilmar and multinational companies such as Cargill, Bunge, ADM and Louis Dreyfuss, have signed deals with two Chinese exporters to import soyabean oil between September and December this year. While a record 1.5 lakh tonnes have been signed for imports, more shipments of the soft oil will likely take place if the offer prices continue to be competitive, trade sources said.

As many as 27 states—all except West Bengal—have received central approval to set up PM Ekta Malls for showcasing and selling indigenous products under the 'One District, One Product' (ODOP) initiative. The Union government cleared projects worth nearly Rs.4,796 crore in fiscal year 2023-24 under the scheme, official data shows.

The Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has approved setting up the regional office of APEDA in Raipur, the Chhattisgarh government said on Wednesday. Welcoming the development, the government stated that farmers and producers will get access to a wide range of export-related services under one roof of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

1,522 mandis have been integrated with the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) portal with trade volume of 12.03 crore metric tonnes (MT) of various agricultural commodities and 49.15 crore units of countable commodities such as coconut, betel leaf, sweet corn, lemon, and bamboo traded on the platform till 30.06.2025. The trade of Rs.4,39,941 crores has been recorded on e-NAM platform. The State-wise details of traded volume and value since inception are provided at Annexure.

The Government has approved ‘Namo Drone Didi’ as Central Sector Scheme for providing 15,000 drones to the Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) with an outlay of Rs. 1261 Crores for the period from 2023-24 to 2025-26. The major objectives of the scheme is to promote advance technology in agriculture for improved efficiency, enhanced crop yield & reduced cost of operation and to empower SHGs as drone service providers for increasing their income and providing livelihood support to them. Under this scheme, Central Financial Assistance (CFA) @ 80% of the cost of drone package up to a maximum of Rs. 8.00 lakhs is provided to the selected women SHGs. 15 days drone pilot training for one of the members of SHGs and 5 days drone assistant training to other member/family member of SHGs is provided as a part of drone package.

Edible oil imports are required to bridge the gap between domestic production and consumption till self-sufficiency in edible oils is achieved. Government of India is implementing a centrally sponsored scheme National Mission on Edible Oils - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) for the period 2021-22 to 2025-26. NMEO-OP strives to boost oil palm cultivation in the country through area expansion. Till March 2025, 1.89 lakh hectares area had been covered under NMEO-OP, taking the total coverage under oil palm in the country to 5.56 lakh hectares. Crude Palm Oil (CPO) production has risen from 1.91 lakh tonnes in 2014-15 to 3.80 lakh tonnes in 2024-25.

India is actively pursuing trade negotiations with the European Union (EU), US, Australia, Sri Lanka, Peru, Chile and New Zealand, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ram Nath Thakur informed Lok Sabha on Tuesday. In a written reply to a question asked by CPI (M) member R Sachithanantham, Thakur said that with these trade discussions, India will focus to expand its global trade footprint and enhance competitiveness of Indian exports.
