Guwahati Tea Auction Centre registers record performance in 2024-25.
The Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) has delivered a record-breaking sales in the just-concluded financial year 2024-25. Dinesh Bihani, Secretary of the Guwahati Tea Auction Buyers Association said that the centres recorded the sale of 169.13 million kilograms of tea in 2024-25 at an average price of Rs. 227.70 per kilogram, strengthening its position as a leading hub for quality Assam teas.

In a significant step toward deepening economic ties, India and the United States have finalised the Terms of Reference (ToRs) for a proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA) that covers around 19 chapters, including goods, services, customs facilitation, and investments. Vance to visit India as Trump intensifies tariff war with China.
US Vice-President JD Vance will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a four-day visit to India next week as their two countries negotiate a bilateral trade deal. Govt procures 3,40,000 tonnes of tur under price support scheme.
The government has procured 3,40,000 tonnes of tur (pigeon pea) so far this year under the Price Support Scheme (PSS), according to agriculture ministry data. Tur procurement is being undertaken at a minimum support price (MSP) under the scheme. The ministry has sanctioned 13.22 lakh tonnes of tur procurement from nine states.

India's tea exports touch 254.67 million kg in 2024: Tea Board.
India's tea exports reached 254.67 million kg during the January to December 2024 period, moving the country up to the third position globally in the export of the beverage, a statement by the Tea Board of India said. The total value realisation from tea exports in 2024 stood at Rs 7,111.43 crore, reflecting a notable increase from the previous year.
