The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has ordered all manufacturing firms of fortified rice to integrate a new national traceability application into their operations in order to prevent adulteration of the final product.
India has mandated the fortification of various food staples progressively since 2019 in an effort to reduce malnutrition in the country, with rice being a key target for iron, vitamin B9 and vitamin B12 fortification.

India and the United States (US) have informed the World Trade Organization (WTO) that both countries have been able to arrive at a mutually agreed solution regarding the dispute over poultry imports from Washington.
With the submission of this notification to the WTO’s dispute settlement body, the two countries have now resolved all 7 of their pending trade disputes at the global trade body.

Indian high commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha underlined India and Sri Lanka are seeking to broaden the scope of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) through an Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) even as a separate Bilateral Investment Treaty will also be formed.
This is as per media reports which added the Indian envoy stated this while addressing the 75th year celebration of the Sri Lanka India Society in Colombo recently.

22 Mar, 2024 News Image Banks' export credit at Rs 20,489 crore surges to 12-month high amid global demand.
Bank loans to exporters late January reached their highest level in the past 12 months, in line with renewed global demand for Indian goods despite the Red Sea crisis that has affected trade since late autumn due to piracy raids and question marks over maritime security.
Outstanding export credit for Indian banks was seen at Rs 20,489 crore at the end of January 26, rising 5% this financial year, data from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) showed. This was the highest since February last year.

The Ministry of Food on Thursday gave permission to 30 companies from the private sector to import 83,000 tonnes of rice.
The ministry on Thursday issued a notification saying that imported rice must be sold in sacks, and cannot be repackaged with the name of the owner.
