FSSAI has decided to review the Points of Entry notified for food imports taking into account the trend/volume of food import, testing facilities, and logistics infrastructure.
Accordingly, the food regulator has decided to notify Authorised Officers at 155 specified Points of Entry for food import.

22 Mar, 2024 News Image Central Advisory Committee of FSSAI unveils action plan on Anti-Microbial Resistance.
The Central Advisory Committee (CAC), of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), unveiled the authority’s action plan on Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR), during the 43rd CAC meeting in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
During the meeting, deliberations were held on creating awareness amongst farmers regarding the judicious use of antibiotics in livestock, aquaculture, poultry, as part of FSSAI responsibilities under the AMR National Action Plan-II. Plans to carry out surveillance on anti-microbial susceptibility in food matrix to ensure consumers' safety were also discussed.

India will surpass Japan and Germany to emerge as the third-largest economy and also the third-largest stock market in the world in the next five years, India's G20 Sherpa and former NITI Aayog CEO, Amitabh Kant said on Thursday. Speaking at a conference on 'The Deccan Conversations, Accelerating Our Growth Story', organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (Southern Region), he said India has been growing in the last three quarters at 8.3 per cent plus and has emerged as a very 'resilient powerhouse' during this period.

After a long delay, New Delhi and London are aiming at signing the free-trade agreement (FTA) by July, leading to Indian exporters of labour-intensive products such as textiles, machinery, automobile parts, and marine products getting greater market access.
Signing a trade deal with the United Kingdom (UK) would be one of the main priorities of India’s National Democratic Alliance-led government, which is now eyeing a third consecutive term.

India and the US Thursday informed the World Trade Organization (WTO) that they have reached a mutually agreed solution on the outstanding dispute on poultry imports from Washington, thereby resolving all of their seven disputes at the global trade watchdog.
In 2015, India lost a long-pending dispute over poultry imports from the US at the WTO. India had prohibited the import of various agricultural products from the US because of concerns related to Avian Influenza.

Indian cocoa growers are reaping the benefits of a surge in global cocoa prices, which have nearly doubled since the beginning of this year leaving consumers worried over the price they have to pay for their favourite chocolates.
The price rise in the global market has led research agency BMI, a unit of Fitch Solutions, to raise its 2024 average price forecast for ICE-listed second-month cocoa futures contracts from $3,750 per tonne to $6,000 — a 60 per cent increase.

21 Mar, 2024 News Image Interest Equalisation Scheme Gets Capped at Rs 2.5 Crore Per Importer Exporter Code For June Quarter.
The government has imposed a cap of Rs 2.50 crore per Importer Exporter Code under Interest Equalization Scheme for the quarter ending June 30, 2024. 
The Interest Equalization Scheme introduced in 2015 to provide pre and post-shipment export credit to exporters in Indian rupee was originally slated for a five-year duration till March 31, 2020. However, it has since been extended multiple times, including a one-year extension amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, along with additional extensions and allocations of funds.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has mandated the requirement of an Integrated Veterinary Health Certificate for the import of milk and milk products into India.
According to a press release, this directive, aimed at ensuring food safety standards, comes as part of a series of measures to regulate the importation of food items.

Besides, the government has also approved the imports of rice, pulses, wheat, eggs, onions and green chillies as well.
'300 tonnes of potatoes arrived in 12 trucks at 11:30pm on Tuesday (March 19) through Petrapole Port of India,' Aziz Khan, revenue officer of Benapole Port's cargo branch check post, told The Business Standard.
