India negotiates free trade agreements with nations on an equal footing with adequate firmness, as the country has changed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada said on Wednesday. He said that India's economic growth is progressing rapidly. 'When we do FTAs with different countries...we talk on equal footing. This is the new India. India looking to build new ties with South Dakota through agriculture and trade. India and South Dakota may be worlds apart, but leaders are looking to build new ties through agriculture and trade. Prakash Gupta, the consul general of India based in Seattle, is in Sioux Falls this week for the Midwest Agricultural Export Summit. He says India sees big potential in partnering with South Dakota — especially in ag tech — and hopes to bring Indian goods like mangoes and coffee to the region. Gupta is also pushing for a South Dakota trade mission to visit India soon. Despite high tariffs, he’s optimistic about the future of U.S.-India trade talks. Source: kelo.com |

Government Boosts Turmeric Exports Through SPICED Scheme. Government of India through Spices Board is implementing the scheme 'Sustainability in Spice Sector through Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development (SPICED)' under which various programs are undertaken to promote the export of spices including turmeric. These inter-alia include implementation of food safety and quality assurance mechanisms / certifications, postharvest quality upgradation, support for processing and value addition, organizing training 2 programme for stakeholders of turmeric aimed at quality improvement and entrepreneurship development; quality evaluation of export consignments of turmeric through quality evaluation laboratories to ensure compliance with quality specifications of importing countries and organization of Buyer Seller meets (domestic and international) to establish direct market linkage between farmers/farmer groups, exporters/processors and international buyers. National Policy framework on Agriculture and Marketing (NPFAM). Various States have established Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMCs) as per local needs to support farmers, including small and marginal farmers as agricultural marketing is a state subject. To facilitate farmers in selling their produce at fair price without the interference of middlemen, Government of India has launched National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform in 2016. e-NAM platform has significantly benefited rural farmers by increasing market access, improved price discovery, reduced transaction costs, access to wider markets, reduced dependence on local market and improved income opportunities. Ladakh boosts halman apricot exports to Middle East. Ladakh, India, known for its premium apricot varieties including the GI-tagged 'Raktsey Karpo', produces about 15,868 tons annually from 2,612 hectares, with two-thirds of production from Kargil and one-third from Leh. In 2025, the Union Territory's Department of Industries and Commerce, in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), exported 1.5 tons of fresh Halman apricots to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar.
