MoFPI approves 1,601 projects under PMKSY; Rs 6,411 crore grant-in-aid disbursed.
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), is implementing a Central Sector Umbrella scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY). As on 30.06.2025, under the various component schemes of PMKSY, 1601 projects have been approved and grant-in-aid of Rs 6411.61 crore has been disbursed/released to these projects.

Corrective steps to address structural challenges in Agriculture.
The Government is implementing National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) to make Indian Agriculture a sustainable production system. Several schemes have been initiated under NMSA to achieve resilience in Agriculture. Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) scheme increases water use efficiency at the farm level through micro irrigation technologies i.e. drip and sprinkler irrigation systems. Rainfed Area Development focuses on Integrated Farming System for enhancing productivity and minimizing risks associated with climatic variability.

Malaysia does not see India’s ambitious push for self-reliance in edible oils through the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) as a threat but as a strategic opportunity. The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) has welcomed the initiative as a forward-looking step to boost India’s edible oil security, while reaffirming the role of Malaysia, the world’s second-largest producer of palm oil, as a key and long-term supplier.

APEDA flags off first-ever export of fresh Halman Apricots from Ladakh to Gulf countries.

India concludes trade deal negotiations with Oman, date of economic partnership agreement remains unrevealed.
Negotiations for a comprehensive trade deal between India and Oman, which commenced in 2023, have been concluded. 'India-Oman CEPA negotiations have been concluded,' Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada informed Rajya Sabha in a written reply this week while responding to a question from Congress member Hebi Mather Hisham relating to India's trade deals.

Formation and Promotion of FPOs.
10,000 Farmers Producer Organization (FPOs) have been registered under the Central Sector Scheme for 'Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations'. Each FPO registered under the Scheme is provided Rs.18 lakh as management cost over 3 years, matching equity grant of upto Rs.15 lakh per FPO (@Rs.2000/- per farmer) and credit guarantee facility upto Rs.2 crore for project loan from eligible lending institutions.

Bangladesh: Bid deadline cut to speed up 4 lakh tonnes of rice import.
The government has shortened the tender submission period for importing 4 lakh tonnes of rice, according to a decision of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today. The move is intended to build up public food stocks and contain the price of the staple in the local market.

Schemes to Incentivize Food Processing Units.
In order to incentivize setting up/expansion of Food Processing infrastructure, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing two Central Sector Schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) and Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI). Further, a Centrally sponsored scheme namely PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme is also being implemented by MoFPI.

Israel envoy, Hry CM discuss mutual cooperation on agri and AI.
Israeli ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, paid a courtesy visit to Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini at his official residence in Chandigarh on Thursday. During the meeting, they discussed mutual cooperation and several other important subjects. 'Haryana and Israel will work together in various sectors such as research, healthcare, agricultural technology, advanced irrigation systems and artificial intelligence,' the CM said. The chief minister stated that there was a focus on establishing a Centre of Excellence in Haryana.
