Good news on US deal once fair and equitable terms are reached: Piyush Goyal.
Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Tuesday that the "good news" on the India-US trade pact will come when the terms become fair, equitable and balanced. Negotiation for a trade agreement is a process and India has to secure the interests of its farmers, fishermen and small industry, Goyal said at the Indo-US Economic Summit, organised by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce here.

Prime Minister to honour 10 organic farmers during his visit to Coimbatore on Nov. 19.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will honour 10 organic farmers during his visit to Coimbatore on November 19 to address the South India Natural Farming Summit. Five thousand farmers will attend the summit. The Prime Minister is scheduled to begin his address shortly after 1 p.m., and interact with the farmers practising natural farming. The premise of the organisers is that the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, with whom two rounds of discussions were held for conduct of the event, would be attending the Summit, as a matter of protocol, said P.R. Pandian, Organising Committee Coordinator.

India’s sugar production up 48% at 1 mln ton, mills report higher recovery.
India’s sugar production started on a positive note this year with 10.50 lakh tonnes (lt) produced until November 15 during the current sugar season that began from October 1, up from 7.1 lt year-ago thanks to more number of mills starting crushing and reporting higher juice recovery. The commencement of new crushing season in Maharashtra was delayed this year as was planned earlier due to rains. Now, the cane price agitations in Karnataka and Maharashtra have slowed down the cane crushing operation, the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) said in a statement.

US tariff relief may boost India’s $1 bn farm exports.
The Trump administration’s decision to lift reciprocal tariffs on several agricultural commodities is expected to create a level playing field for Indian exporters, especially in fruits and nuts, spices, tea and coffee, essential oils, vegetables, bovine meat, and fertilisers, a senior official said. 'Over $1 billion worth of India’s agricultural products exports to the US annually have been exempted from tariff, which would boost export prospects,' the official added.

Despite global price weakness and US tariffs, India’s agricultural exports show strong momentum in first half of current financial year.
India’s agricultural exports have been growing faster than the country’s overall merchandise exports, showing a strong performance even when many other sectors are slowing down. Government data for April to September 2025 shows that farm exports touched $25.9 billion, which is an increase of 8.8% from the same period last year, with $23.8 billion for the corresponding six months.

The cumulative exports (merchandise & services) during April-October 2025 is estimated at US$ 491.80 Billion, as compared to US$ 469.11 Billion in April-October 2024, estimated growth of 4.84%.
India’s total exports (Merchandise and Services combined) for October 2025* is estimated at US$ 72.89 Billion, registering a negative growth of (-) 0.68 percent vis-à-vis October 2024. Total imports (Merchandise and Services combined) for October 2025* is estimated at US$ 94.70 Billion, registering a positive growth of 14.87 percent vis-à-vis October 2024.

India to gain from US reciprocal tariff cuts on some agri items: Commerce ministry.
India is expected to gain from the US decision to roll back reciprocal tariffs on certain agricultural products such as tea, coffee and spices, the commerce ministry said on Monday. A White House Executive Order issued on November 12 excludes coffee, tea, tropical fruits, fruit juices, cocoa, spices, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, beef and certain fertilisers from the April 2 reciprocal tariff regime. The exemptions took effect on November 13.

Wheat sowing till Nov 11 of current rabi season up 17 pc to 66.23 lakh hectare.
Area under coverage for wheat till November 11 of the ongoing rabi (winter-sown) season rose 17 per cent to 66.23 lakh hectares on better monsoon and an increase in minimum support price, according to the government data. The wheat acreage stood at 56.55 lakh hectares in the year-ago period.
