India Deepens Trade Engagement with Latin America. India has successfully concluded two key rounds of trade negotiations with partner countries in Latin America, underscoring the Government’s commitment to expanding economic cooperation and deepening trade linkages with the region. The 9th Round of India–Peru Trade Agreement negotiations was held in Lima, Peru, from 3rd to 5th November 2025. The discussions witnessed substantive progress across key chapters of the proposed Agreement including Trade in Goods and Services, Rules of Origin, Technical Barriers to Trade, Customs Procedures, Dispute Settlement, and Critical Minerals. Philippines to start rice importation by January 2026 with new tariff rates. The Philippines will resume importing rice by January next year, with a new tariff rate to be imposed on the imported grain, which will be determined by mid-December this year, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said Thursday. 'Definitely we have to start importing by January because we have to ensure we have enough buffer stock for the next harvest season,' Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said at a press briefing in Quezon City. India rapeseed plantings to hit record highs due to favourable weather, Chinese demand. India's rapeseed planting is expected to hit a new high this year due to record Chinese buying of rapeseed meal and above-average rainfall that resulted in favourable soil moisture for the crop. As the country's primary winter-sown oilseed, the surge in rapeseed production is also poised to help India, the world's largest importer of edible oil, limit costly overseas purchases of cooking oils. Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal Wednesday said India and the US are continuing discussions to seal a proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA) and that the talks are advancing smoothly. ISMA urges Centre to allow 2 million tonnes sugar exports as production seen rising 16% on bumper Maharashtra, Karnataka output. Industry body Indian Sugar & Bio-energy Manufacturers' Association (ISMA) has urged the central government to allow export of two million tonnes of sugar in 2025-26 as the industry body has projected an year-on-year increase of 16% in the gross domestic production driven by favourable weather conditions in Maharashtra and Karnataka. 'With a comfortable sugar balance, India is well-positioned to export nearly 20 lakh tons this season. We have strongly urged the government to announce the export policy at the earliest, so mills can proactively plan their raw and white sugar production strategies in advance,' said ISMA in a media release. APEDA Facilitates First Export of Fortified Rice Kernel from Chhattisgarh to Costa Rica. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has facilitated the first export consignment of 12 metric tonnes of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) from Chhattisgarh to Costa Rica. This initiative aligns with the visionary programme of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, 'Kuposhan Mukt Bharat' (Malnutrition-Free India), being implemented under the Poshan Abhiyan, through which the Food Corporation of India (FCI) is distributing fortified rice across the country. India won’t compromise on dairy, MSMEs in trade pacts, says Piyush Goyal after meeting New Zealand PM.
