India’s sugar surplus may open doors for limited exports in 2025/26.
India should allow exports of 2 million metric tonnes of sugar in the 2025/26 marketing year starting from October 1 as the country is set to produce surplus, the head of a leading industry body said on Thursday. Sugar mills can divert up to 5 million tonnes of sugar for production of ethanol in the new season, Gautam Goel, president of Indian Sugar & Bio-energy Manufacturers Association told an industry conference.

Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce Rajesh Agrawal said India is currently negotiating its biggest free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union, and it is important particularly for the Indian automobile sector, as the auto sector is one of the bloc's key strengths.

Railways launch daily rail service to move Kashmiri apples to Delhi.
Northern Railway will begin a daily parcel express service between Budgam in Kashmir and Adarsh Nagar in Delhi from Sept. 13, providing a transport option for perishable produce such as apples. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday said in a post on X that the service would 'empower Kashmir’s apple growers' by improving connectivity following the opening of the Jammu-Srinagar line.

Ladakh apricots exported to Gulf markets
pricots, long a staple crop in Ladakh, have entered Gulf markets for the first time in 2025, with shipments sent to Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The milestone was achieved with support from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), which facilitated a 1.5 metric ton consignment formally dispatched on 5 August from Leh.
