DGFT updates export policy for every product to promote ease of doing business.
The Commerce Ministry's arm DGFT on Monday updated the export policy for all products, specifying detailed conditions for each item to enhance the ease of doing business in the country. Earlier specific policy conditions were only outlined for goods which were subject to certain restrictions or fell under some norms.

Optimistic about higher agri growth in FY25 on good monsoon: Principal secy to PM.
India's agriculture sector is poised for stronger growth in the 2024-25 fiscal year, driven by favourable monsoon conditions, according to Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister P K Mishra. 'Monsoon has been good... I am very optimistic this year,' Mishra told PTI in an interview.

Bangladesh: 26935 MT of rice arrives at Chattogram port from India.
Another consignment of 26, 935 metric tonnes of Indian rice arrived at the country’s premier sea port Chattogram on Sunday morning. With this, the second consignment of rice came from India since the interim government took over the power in August last year.

India’s rice stocks reach record high.
While its wheat stocks continue to drop, India’s rice stocks hit a record at the beginning of January, reaching eight times the government’s target, Reuters reported. Rice reserves totaled 60.9 million tonnes on Jan. 1, much higher than the target of 7.6 million tonnes.

Punjab to Boost Tomato Production and Paste Manufacturing: S. Ravneet Singh Bittu.
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (GOI), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Punjab Agro Industries Corporation, and Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) are set to hold joint deliberations to enhance tomato production and paste manufacturing in Punjab. During his visit to the Hindustan Unilever plant in Rajpura, S. Ravneet Singh Bittu, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, emphasized the need for collaboration among these stakeholders to enable Punjab farmers to grow tomatoes of international standards and subsequently produce tomato paste.

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal sets $100 billion target of combined product exports for Food & Beverage, agri and marine industries in next five years.
India has the potential to reach $100 billion of combined exports in the Food & Beverage (F&B), agriculture and marine products industries in the next five years. This was stated by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal during his keynote address at an interaction with the F&B industry stakeholders on the sidelines of Indusfood 2025 today in New Delhi. He emphasised that the target is not very ambitious as the industries need to grow at a combined rate of 14-15%.

India-Nepal Inter-Governmental Committee meeting on trade transit and cooperation to combat unauthorised trade concludes in Kathmandu.
The India-Nepal Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) on Trade, Transit, and Cooperation to Combat Unauthorised Trade was held in Kathmandu from January 10-11, 2025. Secretary, Department of Commerce, Government of India, Shri Sunil Barthwal led the Indian delegation which included senior officials from various Ministries and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. The Nepali side was headed by Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Government of Nepal, Mr. Gobinda Bahadur Karkee, accompanied by representatives from different Nepali Ministries and Departments.
