Commerce Secretary reviews the India–Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Free Trade Agreement negotiations in Moscow.
Commerce Secretary Shri Rajesh Agrawal has reviewed the progress of India–Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Free Trade Agreement negotiations in a series of meetings Moscow. Commerce Secretary met the Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Mr. Andrey Slepnev, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Mr. Mikhail Yurin, and also addressed a business networking plenary with members of Indian and Russian industry.

'Bangladeshi onion importers await government nod before supplies from India can resume'.
India's onion exports remain critical to international trade, but exporters continue to face challenges from unpredictable weather and restrictive trade policies, says Kiran Gandurde, Co-founder of Matoshree Fresh Foods. 'The current red onion season started much later than usual. Normally, we would see new crop arrivals by October, but prolonged rains pushed that back by 20 to 35 days. This delay means the first shipments of red onions from Nashik to Vietnam and Indonesia are just being arranged.'

Government to organise workshops for edible oil industry to ensure smooth implementation of new norms.
The Government of India is set to organise a series of nationwide workshops for edible oil manufacturers, refiners, and traders to ensure effective implementation of the newly introduced regulatory norms for the edible oil sector. The initiative aims to enhance transparency, ensure product quality, and strengthen consumer confidence in one of India’s most essential food segments. According to officials from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the workshops will be conducted in collaboration with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and state food departments. These interactive sessions will educate stakeholders about compliance requirements under the updated Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations and the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules.

India allows 1.5 mln ton sugar exports on higher domestic surplus.
India allowed sugar exports of 1.5 million metric tons in the new season, the government said in a notification on Friday, as a decline in the diversion of sugar for ethanol production is expected to leave a larger domestic surplus. Higher exports from the world's second-largest sugar producer could pressure benchmark New York and London futures ,, which are hovering near five-year lows.

Next round of talks on proposed trade pact with Chile likely in Dec.
The next round of negotiations between India and Chile on the proposed free trade agreement is expected to be held in December here, an official said. The pact with the the South American nation may help India access critical minerals, which are key inputs for electronics, auto, and solar sectors.

Commerce Secretary Shri Rajesh Agrawal met Mr. Vladimir Ilyichev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, for the 26th Meeting of the India-Russia Working Group on Trade & Economic Cooperation under the aegis of the Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC). The two sides reviewed bilateral trade, which has risen to well over twice the leaders’ 2014 benchmark of US$25 billion, and took note of the shared objective of US$100 billion by 2030. A forward looking protocol for trade and economic cooperation across multiple sectors was finalised and signed during the meeting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Coimbatore on November 19 to address the South India Natural Farming Summit 25 to be hosted in Coimbatore by farmers’ associations in Tamil Nadu, to take forward farming practices propagated by late G. Nammazhvar, organic farming expert. The Prime Minister, after his inaugural address, will interact with 50 scientists specialising in organic agriculture from the Southern States at tje CODISSIA Hall, to chalk out policies for broad-basing Natural farming.

India expands frozen french fry exports from Gujarat.
Fifteen years ago, frozen french fries in India mostly arrived on ships docking in Mumbai and Chennai. Today, they are exported from Gujarat to markets in Dubai, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and other destinations.

Govt to soon allocate Rs 2,000 cr for Credit Guarantee Scheme for Exporters.
The government will soon allocate Rs 2,000 crore for the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Exporters announced by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday, sources said. National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company Limited (NCGTC) would require Rs 2,000 crore to extend credit facilities of up to Rs 20,000 crore to eligible exporters, sources said, adding that some money is already with the company.
