The NIDHI-TBI team at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), along with its incubatees, participated in an online meeting organised by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), recently. The APEDA, functioning under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is responsible for promoting the export of agricultural and processed food products from the country.

India's rice traders plan to seek export deals for the new season's crop with buyers in emerging markets such as Iraq, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, a top industry official said, after above-average monsoon rains boosted output. 'India is already a major player in the global rice trade, and our aim now is to tap buyers in less-served markets to further boost exports at a time when production and stocks are strong,' Dev Garg, vice president of the Indian Rice Exporters Federation, said on Monday.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) — a flagship initiative announced in the Union Budget 2025–26 to strengthen India’s export competitiveness, particularly for MSMEs, first-time exporters, and labour-intensive sectors. The Mission will provide a comprehensive, flexible, and digitally driven framework for export promotion, with a total outlay of Rs.25,060 crore for FY 2025–26 to FY 2030–31. EPM marks a strategic shift from multiple fragmented schemes to a single, outcome-based, and adaptive mechanism that can respond swiftly to global trade challenges and evolving exporter needs.

The rice will be procured under international tender from M/S Agrocorp International Pte Ltd, Singapore, at a total cost of Tk 217.09 crore, with a per-tonne price of US$ 355.59, according to a meeting of the Advisers’ Council Committee on Government Purchase today (November 12) at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The Finance Adviser, Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, said the government’s objective is to ensure a stable food supply, particularly during the upcoming Ramadan season, while maintaining price balance for consumers.
