PACS, dairy, fisheries and multipurpose cooperatives strengthened in Odisha.
A major expansion of cooperative societies across Odisha is underway as part of the nationwide effort to deepen the cooperative movement and strengthen grassroots reach in rural India. The drive has seen a sharp increase in Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), dairy and fisheries cooperative societies registered across the State, reflecting broad participation in the Government’s comprehensive cooperative strengthening strategy.

Karnataka's GI-tagged lemon exported to Oman.
Karnataka’s pride, a GI-tagged lemon produced largely in Vijayapura district, is set to enter the Oman market with the first shipment sent for the Gulf nation. The shipment of three metric tonnes of the citrus fruit known for its thin rind and high juice content was exported to Muscat, days after India and Oman entered into a free trade agreement.

Rising global fries demand drives investment across the potato value chain.
Three years ago, Agristo decided to double production at one of its Belgian sites. They are adding a new French fry production line, with room for further expansion, says Michaël Godaert, the company's Civil Engineering Project Manager. Agristo is also building facilities in France, the US, and India. 'We produce continuously per customer request,' he says.

'Scientists will visit fields once a year to interact directly with farmers' – Union Agriculture Minister.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today participated as the Chief Guest in the Chaudhary Charan Singh Kisan Samman Ceremony organised by the Kisan Trust at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi. On this occasion, the Union Minister released a book and felicitated progressive farmers and institutions for their exemplary contribution in the field of agriculture. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, attended the ceremony as the Guest of Honour.

10-year hiatus to handshake: India-New Zealand trade pact nears finish line.
India and New Zealand are close to inking a free trade agreement, the talks for which restarted this year in March after a hiatus of ten years. Trade between India and New Zealand has shown steady growth over the years. In FY21, exports stood at $486.2 million and imports at $381.5 million. By FY26*, exports are expected to reach $343.5 million, while imports are projected at $356.9 million.

India Engaged In FTA Negotiations With EU, US, Australia, Chile, Peru And Other Nations: Centre.
India is actively engaged in multiple Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations aimed at expanding market access, strengthening exports, and safeguarding domestic industries, the government has informed the Parliament. In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Friday (19 December), Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal outlined the status of key trade negotiations currently underway.

India and Netherlands Establish Joint Trade and Investment Committee to Strengthen Bilateral Economic Cooperation.
India and the Netherlands today announced the establishment of the India–Netherlands Joint Trade and Investment Committee (JTIC) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important milestone in further strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries. The MoU, signed between Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of Republic of India and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, was formally announced today on the occasion of the visit of the Dutch Foreign Minister H.E. David van Weel to India and his bilateral meeting with the Union Minister of External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar.

India & Oman will work to roll out trade pact in three months: Piyush Goyal.
India and Oman will endeavour to implement the bilateral free trade agreement within the next three months, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday. 'They have also given us an assurance that wherever Indians are investing in Oman...they will allow other than Omani residents...100% Indian employees. So, a little bit of employees will be Omanis, the rest can all be Indians,' Goyal said a day after India and Oman inked a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). 'So, we (Indian firms) would not have to have diverse nationalities or take people from other nations,' he said.

India–New Zealand should push to double bilateral trade in five years; focus on tariff cuts, sectoral ties: GTRI report.
India and New Zealand should aim to double their bilateral trade in the next five years, accordint to think tank GTRI. The organization recommends reducing import duties and strengthening partnerships in agriculture, while also calling for more direct flights and easier visa rules.
