Through increased agricultural productivity, the adoption of digital and climate-resilient practices, and improved market connections, the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Growth and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening (UP-AGREES) Project, a $325.10 million initiative, has received approval from the World Bank. As a way to encourage these initiatives, the project also seeks to garner $15 million in private investment.

Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), has been incentivising food processing entrepreneurs, including small and medium, for setting up/expansion of related industries through its Central Sector Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) Scheme, Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) and Centrally Sponsored PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme across the country. These schemes are not region or state specific but demand driven.

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Monday that the state govt was considering a Rs 500 crore project dedicated to the rejuvenation of apple horticulture.
He said the project would be implemented over five years and would focus on promoting high-density plantations to enhance farmers’ incomes and strengthen the rural economy.
