The Interprofessional Association for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, known as Interfel, is promoting the new French apple season in India as part of a broader European fruit and vegetable outreach programme. French apples are being presented to the Indian market following a 2025 harvest that shows stable production levels. French apple output for 2025 is estimated at 1.485 million tonnes, representing a 4% increase compared with 2024 and a level 3% above the three-year average. Production stability has been maintained despite weather-related challenges affecting several other apple-producing regions globally.

India and the Netherlands have set up a Joint Trade and Investment Committee (JTIC) to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, the commerce and industry ministry said on Friday. An MoU was inked in this regard between the two countries.

The objective of the Scheme is to support State Government’s efforts and to make available latest agricultural technologies and good agricultural practices in different thematic areas of agriculture and allied areasto farmers to modernize agriculture through different extension activities viz; Farmers Training, Skill Training of Rural Youth, Demonstrations, Exposure Visits, Kisan Mela, Mobilization of Farmers Groups and organizing Farm Schools etc.

India and Oman have signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement that provides duty-free access for selected Indian fruit and vegetable products entering the Omani market. The agreement was signed in Muscat and applies to a range of agricultural and processed food items, with the scope here limited to fruit and vegetables.

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal on Monday said that India mainly exports expensive basmati rice to the US, and there is no case for dumping of the commodity in the American market. He said that already, a 50 per cent tariff is there on Indian rice.

New Delhi, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Brussels on January 8-9 next year for talks with his EU counterpart to give an impetus to a proposed trade pact, for which negotiations are in the last phase, an official said. During the two-day visit, Goyal will meet the Executive Vice-President and European Commissioner for Trade of the European Union, Maros Sefcovic.

The pact would help Indian exporters, reeling under the impact of 50% tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on Indian goods, to diversify shipments in West Asia region, a gateway to Africa and Europe. Oman has offered to ease norms for Indian companies operating in the Gulf country under the CEPA allowing them to employ up to 50% of their total staff from their India office.
