The United States has moved to raise tariffs on Indian imports, with an additional 25 per cent duty set to push the overall rate to 50 per cent. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the new measures will take effect from 12:01 am Eastern Daylight Time on 27 August as per their latest draft notice. Centre revises Wheat Stock limit till 31st March 2026. In order to manage the overall food security and to prevent hoarding and unscrupulous speculation, the Government of India imposed stock limits on wheat applicable to Traders/Wholesalers, Retailers, Big Chain Retailers and Processors in all States and Union Territories. The Removal of Licensing Requirements, Stock Limits and Movement Restrictions on Specified Foodstuffs (Amendment) Order, 2025 was issued on 27 May 2025 and was applicable for all States and Union Territories. Kharif crops sowing reaches near normal area, 4% up from year-ago. On the one hand farmers who had planted Pusa Basmati 1509 rice in April have harvested and sold their crops whereas there are farmers of paddy who still continue to plant in current Kharif season.
