The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), in close partnership with the Government of Bihar, APEDA, and the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI), successfully concluded the first-ever International Buyer-Seller Meet (IBSM) in Bihar at Gyan Bhawan, Patna. The two-day event marked a milestone in Bihar’s agri-food journey, establishing direct linkages between state’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with leading international buyers.

India’s mango exports to the US are growing and the irradiation operations at a key mango treatment facility in Mumbai have been normalised after a brief disruption due to a data recording error earlier this month, an official said Tuesday. The Mumbai-based irradiation facility, which handles the highest volume of mangoes destined for the US, faced an issue during the irradiation process conducted on May 8 and 9, 2025 which led to the rejection of 12 mango consignments by American authorities due to discrepancies in treatment data.

India and Singapore Strengthened Trade Ties with AEO Agreement.

India, EU looking for early harvest trade agreement by July: Official.
Negotiations for a proposed trade pact between India and the 27-nation European Union are progressing at a faster pace and both the sides are looking at concluding the talks for an early harvest trade agreement by July this year, a government official said on Wednesday. The early harvest or an interim trade agreement would include issues such as intellectual property rights (IPRs), government procurement, tariff, and non-tariff barriers, the official said.

Mango Row: Maharashtra govt agency alleges US inspectors skipped standard procedures.
Following rejection of 15 consignments of Indian mangoes by the US due to procedural lapses, the Indian authorities have claimed that the American inspectors did not follow the protocol. 'Instead of discussing the matter with relevant agencies or notifying the facility beforehand, they (the inspectors) directly reported the alleged issues to their senior offices in the US, resulting in the rejection of the 15 consignments,' Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB), a government arm housing an irradiation facility in Mumbai, said in a statement on Tuesday.

Mango exports to US back to normal after a long.
Exports of mangoes from India to the US are back to normal after the error in one of the irradiation facilities was rectified, a senior official said Tuesday. In one of the approved irradiation facilities based in Mumbai there was an error in recording of data related to the irradiation treatment carried out on May 8-9, leading to the eventual rejection of 12 mango consignments in the USA.

Odisha to apply for GI tag for traditional sweet Palua Ladu.
The district administration of Odisha's Bhadrak has initiated measures to secure a Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Palua Ladu, a traditional sweetmeat made using simple ingredients like palua (arrowroot powder), semolina, and sugar. The GI tag will protect the authenticity of Palua Ladu, prevent imitation, and showcase Odisha's rich heritage on a global platform, the district collector said.

India notifies port restriction move on Bangladeshi exports.
The port restriction on import of certain goods from Bangladesh to India has been notified in the Gazette of India. The official gazette notification was issued on Monday and published today. India has imposed restrictions on the entry of Bangladeshi ready-made garments (RMG) and other products through its northeastern land ports -- Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram -- and Fulbari and Changrabandha in West Bengal, weeks after controversial remarks made by Bangladesh's interim chief advisor Muhammad Yunus about the India's northeastern region, during his visit to China.

India, US discuss expediting conclusion of first phase of trade pact.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday held discussions with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick in Washington to expedite negotiations on the first phase of the proposed bilateral trade agreement between the two countries. Goyal is in Washington for a ministerial-level meeting to review the progress of negotiations of the trade pact.
