US was among top 10 importers in half of the 118 countries that exported dairy products in 2023.
Besides steel and aluminium, which are bound to face higher tariffs for imports to the US from March 12, another flashpoint for US President Donald Trump is the dairy trade. A Moneycontrol analysis shows that US action on the front is expected to hurt most countries, including India, as the North American nation accounts for nearly 4 percent of global dairy imports and over 6 percent of exports.

APEDA Showcases India's Organic Excellence at Natural Products Expo West 2025.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) showcased India's rich agricultural heritage and growing organic sector at the Natural Products Expo West 2025, held from March 4 to 7, 2025, at the Anaheim Convention Centre, California, USA. To enhance India’s global presence in the organic market, APEDA facilitated the participation of 13 leading Indian exporters, representing a diverse range of organic products, including rice, oilseeds, herbs, spices, pulses, nuts, ginger, turmeric, large cardamom, cinnamon, mango puree, and essential oils. The curated display underscored India’s agricultural strength and commitment to sustainability, quality, and international standards.

To get past US tariffs, India to take FTA route; increased market access, lower duties on cards.
As India and the US negotiate a trade pact, both sides will focus on increasing market access, reducing import duty and non-tariff barriers apart from enhancing supply chain integration, the government informed Parliament on Tuesday.

India, US plan to negotiate trade pact, increase market access, cut duties: Govt to Parliament.
India and the US are planning to negotiate a trade agreement and both countries will focus on increasing market access, reducing import duty and non-tariff barriers, and enhancing supply chain integration, Parliament was informed on Tuesday. 'Both countries plan to negotiate a mutually beneficial, multi-sector Bilateral Trade Agreement,' said Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, adding that as on date, reciprocal tariffs have not been imposed by the US on India.

Govt ready to include farmers in PM Kisan Samman Nidhi who are not part of it yet: Agri minister.
The government is ready to provide Rs 6,000 annual cash benefit under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi to all eligible farmers who are not part of it yet, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. He asked all state governments to cooperate with the Centre in identifying such farmers and ensuring their inclusion in the scheme.

Scientists are pursuing a Geographical Indication (GI) tag for the distinctive Savanur betel leaf. However, they face challenges due to insufficient historical records. Horticultural researchers are gathering necessary documentation to support their application. The cultivation of betel leaves in Savanur taluk covers 400 hectares, with its history traced to the 17th century during the Savanur Nawa's reign.

New Delhi considers restoring High Commissioner to Canada to reset ties.
The government is considering restoring its High Commissioner to Canada, sources said, in signs that the exit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau from office could signal a thaw in bilateral ties that have been virtually frozen since 2023 over the Nijjar case. Canadian Security Intelligence Service’s (CSIS) chief Daniel Rogers is also set to visit India next week to attend a meeting of intelligence chiefs hosted by the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).

Mauritius can be used as a gateway by Indian investors for Africa, says country's Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ramful.
Noting that Mauritius has a special bond with India and a very long historical relationship, country's Foreign Affairs Minister Dhananjay Ramful has said that preparations are 'unique and special' for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to the country and Indian investors can use Mauritius 'as a gateway to Africa'.
