Huge opportunities to increase share in global agri trade: APEDA chairman.
Indian exporters have huge opportunities to increase their share in the global agriculture trade from the current 2.4 per cent, a government official said on Wednesday. The global agriculture trade is about $2 trillion. Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) Chairman Abhishek Dev said that given these numbers, 'huge opportunities' are there to increase exports from the country.

Security concerns to trade via Chabahar: India and Taliban hold first top-level talks.
In the first high-level bilateral engagement with the Taliban regime, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Afghanistan acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Dubai Wednesday. So far, an Indian official, at the level of Joint Secretary, had been meeting Taliban ministers, including Muttaqi, and Defence Minister Mohammad Yaqoob. But Misri’s meeting is an upgrade, signalling high-level official engagement from the Indian government.

Since its inception in 2017, Indusfood has become a significant platform showcasing India’s dynamic food economy while connecting global businesses with the nation’s expanding food and beverage sector. The 8th edition of Indusfood, Asia’s premier Food and Beverage (F&B) Trade Show, was inaugurated by Chirag Paswan, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, on January 8, 2025 at the India Exposition Mart Ltd., in Greater Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar. The event is scheduled to continue until January 10.

Indian mission officials of 20 nations asked to work on specific market opportunities to boost exports.
The commerce ministry has asked the commercial wings of Indian Missions of 20 countries to specifically identify market opportunities in six goods and services to promote India's exports, an official said on Thursday. Ways to increase the exports were discussed during a three-day meet, concluded on January 8, between senior officials from the ministry and commercial wings of Indian Missions. The official said the missions were asked to market opportunities in these six sectors, competitors and specific companies.

India organic products' exports have potential to reach Rs 20,000 cr in 3 years: Piyush Goyal.
The country's organic products' exports have the potential to jump over three-fold to Rs 20,000 crore in the next three years, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Thursday. He said this while releasing the eighth edition of the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) with new regulations aimed at enhancing clarity and transparency in organic product standards as well as aligning with global standards.

Government notifies procedure for export of certified organic products.
The government has laid out a procedure for the export of certified organic products, requiring mandatory certification under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) for such shipments, according to a public notice. The Directorate General Of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in a public notice said that a product will be allowed to be exported as 'organic product' only when accompanied by a Transaction Certificate (TC) issued by a certification body accredited by the National Accreditation Body for such items under the NPOP of the Department of Commerce.
