Indian govt creates funds to promote carabeef exports, may get ₹30 cr/year.
The Commerce Ministry has created a commodity-specific fund for promoting buffalo meat (carabeef) exports from India. Exporters need to pay Rs. 250/tonne to the official agri export promotion body Apeda from October 29 at the time of applying online for the health certificate, which is mandatory before physical shipments are allowed by the Customs. This may help the government collect over Rs. 30 crore per year.

India, EU trade pact talks in last leg: Commerce Secy.
The negotiations between India and the European Union on the proposed free trade agreement are progressing 'very well' and have reached the last leg, a senior government official said on Wednesday. The two sides concluded their 14th round of negotiations in Brussels last week, but some Indian officials have stayed back to conclude talks on Rules of Origin (ROO), Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal told reporters here.

India and US aim for ‘win-win solution’ amid deepening trade talks: Report.
India and the United States are engaged in intensive trade discussions, with both sides exploring ways to reach a 'win-win solution,' government sources told ANI on Wednesday. 'The ambassador-designate was recently in India, where he met key stakeholders and held productive meetings,' the sources said. 'The discussion is on the table, and we are trying to see if we can arrive at a win-win solution between the two sides.'

Russia to boost banana import from India.
Russia could import up to half million metric tonnes of bananas from India, the country's phytosanitary watchdog here said. Rosselkhoznadzor --- phytosanitary watchdog which gives the approval for import of agro-products from foreign countries --- on Wednesday issued a statement saying that India may increase its banana supplies to the Russian market.

India seeks tariff solution in US trade talks: Commerce Secretary.
India is looking for a 'win-win solution' in its trade talks with the US that would also address the 'tariff issue', with New Delhi keen to make additional energy purchases of $12-13 billion from Washington, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal said Wednesday. India is open to expand oil purchases from the US, provided it comes at the 'right price', he said.

To connect agricultural innovators with international markets, a cross-border agri-platform Global AgXelerate was launched here on Wednesday, positioning India as a critical node in the global agri-innovation network. The capital investments and technology ecosystems platform, launched by AgVaya and BioSTL, with support from the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) and Federation of Seed Industry of India, will link startups, incubators and investors from the US, Brazil, UK, Netherlands, Israel, Argentina and Australia to create market pathways for science-based solutions in regenerative agriculture.

In a world where an ever-growing portion of grains is grown from genetically modified seeds, India has sat on the sidelines — a major farming nation that has almost entirely blocked the cultivation of engineered food crops. Now that opposition, deeply held by some influential rural groups and environmentalists, is coming under increased pressure, in what could be positive news for trade talks between New Delhi and Washington. Trade body urges entrepreneurs to boost domestic production, reduce imports.

Commerce secretary-led team heads to US for trade talks.
A team of Indian officials led by commerce secretary Rajesh Agarwal is once again headed to the US for talks on the proposed bilateral trade deal, amid indications that Trump administration is keen to move ahead. Officials indicated that delegation would visit Washington this week itself as the two sides seek to thrash out a deal in a few weeks. The move comes just a day after US ambassador-designate Sergio Gor met PM Modi and held discussions with Agrawal.
