India’s ties with ASEAN are fraying with Trump’s tariffs and China’s glut to blame.
It’s still far from clear what President Donald Trump’s tariffs will eventually look like. But the pressures they will put on stable trading relationships — even those that don’t directly involve the US — are already visible. Ties between India and the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations are already fraying: They’re being pushed into different camps, and the free-trade agreement they signed in 2010 could become an unexpected victim of the turmoil.

PM Scheme for 100 agri districts gets approval.
The Union cabinet has approved the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), a scheme to develop 100 agricultural districts through the convergence of 36 schemes of 11 ministries. The scheme has an outlay of Rs.24,000 crore per year, said information and broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, adding that it would be implemented for six years beginning with the current financial year. A master plan for implementation of PMDDKY, which will include agriculture and allied activities, will be drawn up for every district, he added.

India Exports Gherkins to Uruguay.
The Commerce Ministry on Tuesday said gherkins, pickled small cucumbers, have been exported from Tamil Nadu to the South American country Uruguay with the support of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). The consignment, it said, includes two major gherkin-based products - whole gherkins, used primarily as pickles, and sandwich slices, which serve as key ingredients in burgers, pizzas, and sandwiches.

India-US set to ink mini trade deal soon, reach understanding on agricultural & dairy products.
India and the United States have ‘almost’ finalised a mini trade deal after weeks of hectic and hard-fought negotiations, even as both sides continue to work on the larger free trade agreement that will be finalised later this year, ThePrint has learnt. Government sources told ThePrint that the mini trade deal will be announced soon by both countries, which will involve concessions on the critical issue of agriculture and dairy products by both sides.

EAM seeks de-escalation, fair trade with China, hails progress in relationship.
During his China visit, S Jaishankar urged Beijing to address border issues through de-escalation and avoid restrictive trade measures. He acknowledged progress in normalizing relations due to resolved border friction and maintained peace. Both nations agreed on practical steps for people-to-people exchanges, including travel and direct flights.

The cumulative exports (merchandise & services) during April-June 2025 is estimated at US$ 210.31 Billion, as compared to US$ 198.52 Billion in April-June 2024, an estimated growth of 5.94%.
India’s total exports (Merchandise and Services combined) for June 2025* is estimated at US$ 67.98 Billion, registering a positive growth of 6.50 percent vis-à-vis June 2024. Total imports (Merchandise and Services combined) for June 2025* is estimated at US$ 71.50 Billion, registering a positive growth of 0.50 percent vis-à-vis June 2024.

TAFE, ICRISAT join hands to launch adaptive agriculture research centre in Hyderabad.
Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to establish the ‘JFarm Adaptive Agriculture Research & Extension Centre’ at the ICRISAT campus in Hyderabad. TAFE inaugurated JFarm in 1964 as a CSR initiative to empower farmers through research-driven solutions and training. With expansions in Bhawanimandi (2016), and through public–private partnerships, JFarm established the ‘JFarm and Product Training Centre’ with PJTSAU, Telangana (2019) and the ‘JFarm and Mechanisation Centre’ with VNMKV, Maharashtra (2023).

India was a net importer of maize in 2024-25 despite record output.
India’s maize imports touched a record 9.7 lakh tonnes during financial year 2024-25, a six-fold increase over 1.37 lakh tonnes in 2023-24. The country became a net importer of maize during the year on rising demand for the cereal from key consuming sectors such as livestock feed, starch and ethanol, even as the exports have slowed down considerably.

Next round of India-EU talks on proposed trade pact in September.
India and the European Union (EU) will hold the next round of negotiations on the proposed free trade agreement (FTA) in September here as both sides have exchanged offers related to the services sectors last week, an official said on Tuesday. L Satya Srinivas, Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce, said the last (12th) round of talks concluded last week in Brussels.

India expecting some kind of conclusion on trade pact review with Asean: Official.
India is expecting to reach some kind of conclusion on the review negotiations of the existing free trade agreement in goods with the 10-nation Asean bloc before the Asean-India Summit, scheduled for October, a government official said on Tuesday. Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce Rajesh Agrawal said that the 10th and 11th rounds of talks between the two sides are likely in August in the national capital and in October in Malaysia.
