Removal of 20pc export duty on onion to boost farmers' income: Agriculture Minister.
The government's decision to withdraw 20 per cent customs duty on onion exports effective April 1 will boost farmers' income, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Monday. 'There will be no duty on onion export so that onion grown by our farmers with hard work reaches the global markets, and they can get better price and remunerative price,' Chouhan said in a video statement.

India's traditional beverage Goli Soda is witnessing strong consumer response in key international markets, including the US, UK, Europe, and the Gulf, driven by strategic expansion and innovative reinvention, an official statement said on Sunday. Under a strategic partnership with Fair Exports, India has ensured steady deliveries of Goli Soda, rebranded as Goli Pop Soda, to Lulu Hypermarket, one of the largest retail chains in the Gulf region, the commerce ministry's arm Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) said.

Strong trade momentum for India in December quarter: Unctad.
India has seen strong goods and services trade momentum in the Dec quarter, a report by UN body Unctad has said but cautioned that global trade could be hit by the policy shifts in the US and trade and geopolitical tensions. Besides, it has pointed to high duties faced by developing countries, limiting market access for their goods. The agency's latest Global Trade Update said that exports from South Asia face among the highest tariffs, averaging around 4%, while imports to the region and Africa see the highest average levy of around 8%.

Exports till February 5 from SEZs, EOUs eligible for RoDTEP scheme benefits.
Companies that have exported goods until February 5 this year from special economic zones (SEZs) and export-oriented units (EOUs) can claim benefits under the RoDTEP scheme, according to a notification. Earlier, the exporters were allowed to seek benefits under the scheme till December 31, 2024.

India removes 20% export duty on onions effective April 1.
The government has withdrawn the 20% duty on onion export, effective from April 1, 2025 thus removing all the restrictions on the export of this kitchen staple after 1.5 years. Starting from October 2023, the government had taken measures to check export by means of duty, minimum export price (MEP) and even to the extent of export prohibition for almost five months, from December 8, 2023 till May 3, 2024. The export duty of 20% which now stands removed has been in place from September 13, 2024.

India's agri growth rate to be 20% in 2 years, says Nitin Gadkari; flags high logistics cost.
India's agricultural growth rate is expected to be 20 per cent in the next two years and the Centre's first priority is to make the sector economically viable and create more jobs, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Saturday. Around 65 per cent of the country's population is rural but they contribute only 12 per cent in growth, he said at a Business Today event here. In order to become a USD 5 trillion economy and achieve third rank in the work, the country's rural economy and agriculture are very important, the Union minister for road transport and highways (MoRTH) said.

First-ever export of Anthurium Flowers from Mizoram to Singapore, a fillip to India's Floriculture Potential.
In a significant step towards enhancing India’s floriculture export potential, particularly from the North Eastern Region (NER), the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture, Government of Mizoram, successfully facilitated the flagging off of the first consignment of Anthurium flowers from Aizawl, Mizoram, to Singapore. The event, held in a hybrid (phygital) format, took place on February 26, 2025.
