Commerce Ministry working on short, medium, long-term steps to shield exporters from US tariffs.
The Commerce Ministry is working on short, medium, and long-term action plans to help exporters deal with the steep 50 per cent US tariffs imposed on Indian goods entering Washington, an official said. Several special economic zone policy flexibility norms are also under consideration, the official said.

India Clocks Robust 7.8% Growth, Beating Expectations.
India’s economy grew at a strong pace of 7.8 per cent in the April-June quarter of the current financial year, according to official data released by the Ministry of Statistics on Friday. This marks an acceleration from the 6.5 per cent growth recorded in the same quarter of 2024-25.

India taking steps to diversify exports and boost demand, trade minister says.
India is taking steps to diversify its exports and boost domestic demand to support exporters hit by 'unilateral action' taken by a country, trade minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday. It was Goyal's first public comment since the doubling of U.S. tariffs on Indian goods to up to 50% took effect this week.

India’s horticulture output leaps to 367.72 million tonnes.
India’s horticulture sector recorded impressive growth over the past decade, driven by the government’s strategy to diversify into high-value agriculture as part of the goal to double farmers’ income in the country. As of August 2025, for 2024-25 (second advanced estimates), horticulture production increased from 280.70 million tonnes in 2013-14 to 367.72 million tonnes. This includes fruit production of 114.51 million tonnes, vegetable production of 219.67 million tonnes, and 33.54 million tonnes from other horticulture crops.

Prime Minister's bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, on the sidelines of the Summit of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin on 31 August 2025. Both leaders welcomed the positive momentum and steady progress in bilateral relations since their last meeting in Kazan in October 2024. They reaffirmed that the two countries were development partners and not rivals, and that their differences should not turn into disputes. A stable relationship and cooperation between India and China and their 2.8 billion peoples on the basis of mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity are necessary for the growth and development of the two countries, as well as for a multipolar world and a multi-polar Asia befitting the trends of the 21st century.

Measures soon to boost exports; Govt committed to shield industry from unilateral actions: Piyush Goyal.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said the government will soon announce measures to boost exports and domestic consumption, underlining its commitment to shield the industry from the adverse impact of unilateral actions by other countries. The remarks are important as the US has imposed a steep 50 per cent tariff on Indian goods entering America from August 27.
