No compromise on red lines, sensitivities in India-US trade pact, sources say.
Negotiations between India and the US for the proposed trade pact will depend on how each side addresses the sensitivities and the red lines, sources told PTI. As far as India is concerned, they said, it has already made it clear that there will be no compromise on issues concerning farmers, fishermen, and small units.

India exports Angul lemons to U.S. markets.
Lemons from Angul (Anugul) district in Odisha have been exported to the United States this month, with nearly 100,000 pieces shipped in three consignments. The exports were facilitated by the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) in collaboration with the farmer-producer company Cropify, based in Jarapada.

Communication channels open to resolve India-US tariff issue: Govt sources.
Communication channels between India and the US are open to resolve the ongoing tariff issues, and the glitch in trade ties is only temporary, given the long-term relationship between the two nations, government sources said on Wednesday. The US's 50 per cent tariffs on Indian exports to America came into effect from August 27, barring a few sectors.

India and South Africa Deepen Agricultural Ties at 5th Joint Working Group Meeting.
India and South Africa convened the 5th Meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Agriculture on Tuesday through a virtual platform. The meeting was co-chaired by Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Joint Secretary (IC), Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, and Thapsana Molepo, Acting Director, International Trade Promotion, Republic of South Africa, according to the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.

European Trade Commissioner may visit India next month, FTA on agenda.
European Commissioner for Trade Maros Sefcovic is likely to visit India next month to take stock of the progress of free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, an official said on Wednesday. The official said the visit is expected towards the end of the 13th round of negotiations, which is scheduled from September 8 here.

India-Africa ties: Trade tops $100 bn in 2024-25; New Delhi among top five investors, says minister Kirti Vardhan Singh.
India's trade with Africa has surpassed $100 billion in 2024-25. Kirti Vardhan Singh highlighted India's significant investment and support for African projects. India has extended concessional loans and grant assistance. Over 42,000 African youths have benefited from Indian scholarships. The focus is now on co-creating a shared future. India ranks among Africa's top investors with substantial cumulative investments.

TN is uniquely positioned to gain from the India-Peru FTA.
India and Peru are negotiating a free trade agreement (FTA), and talks are expected to conclude by the end of this year or early 2026. Peru has significant reserves of rare earth minerals, which could aid TN's growing electronics and battery sectors. Several firms in TN have also expressed interest in tapping Peru's critical sectors. In an interview with TOI, Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, Ambassador of Peru to India, says Tamil Nadu stands to gain immensely from this deal.

India identifies nearly 50 export destinations to counter Trump tariffs as US issues levy notice.
India is rallying its export activities as Trump’s tariffs go into effect from tomorrow (August 27). The US Homeland Security on Tuesday issued a notification saying that Washington would impose an additional 25 per cent tariff on all Indian-origin goods. President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25 per cent duty on Indian goods over New Delhi’s import of Russian oil. In total, India will face a tariff of up to 50 per cent, which is among the highest imposed by the American leader.

Kharif crops sowing reaches near normal area, 4% up from year-ago.
On the one hand farmers who had planted Pusa Basmati 1509 rice in April have harvested and sold their crops whereas there are farmers of paddy who still continue to plant in current Kharif season. With about 34 lakh hectare (lh) covered during the past week (as against 44 lh in the previous week) and the lead over year-ago period in current season further narrows to 3.4 per cent as of August 22 from 3.7 per cent until August 15, the government is keeping a close watch on likely yield.

India exports first GI-tagged Indi lime to UAE.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has announced the first-ever export of three metric tons of GI-tagged Swadeshi Indi Lime from Vijayapura, Karnataka, to the United Arab Emirates. The export was facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
