Shri Goyal Emphasizes on need for Self-Reliance and Export Competitiveness in Key Sectors.
India must focus on the sectors in which India has competitive edge over other countries and address the problems faced by the various stakeholders so that country’s exports can grow. This was stated by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal at the review meeting on Production Linked Incentive Scheme, one of the notable initiatives for making India 'Aatmanirbhar’ in the manufacturing sector.

India triples banana output with tissue culture.
Over the past two decades, India has experienced a threefold increase in banana production, driven by state agricultural strategies and widespread adoption of tissue culture technology by farmers. According to the state agriculture department, banana output rose from 545,000 metric tons in 2004–05 to 1,968,000 metric tons in 2022–23, representing a 261% increase.

Bihar sets litchi export record with 250 tons.
Bihar's Shahi litchi, noted for its distinctive sweetness and pulp, recorded an export milestone in 2025. A total of 250 tons of this fruit shipped from Darbhanga airport to key Indian cities reflects a 108% increase over the previous year's 120 tons.

UAE Ambassador to India Launches Landmark Start-up Series to Power Cross-Border Innovation.
The UAE-India CEPA Council (UICC), in partnership with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in India, launched the UAE–India CEPA Start-up Series in New Delhi. The initiative delivers on a key commitment under the UAE–India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to promote innovation-led collaboration and support the internationalisation of Indian start-ups.

Philippines plans onion imports to meet year-end gap.
The Philippines Department of Agriculture (DA) is evaluating onion importation to stabilize prices amid projections of insufficient supply lasting until December. Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. confirmed intentions to import both red and yellow onions to supplement local supplies to fulfill the national demand. However, the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) has yet to specify the import volume required.

Not necessary to be in SEZs to export, now it can be done from districts: FM Sitharaman.
The Modi government’s approach towards enhancing India’s exports has meant that exporters no longer have to be located in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to export their goods, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday (June 24, 2025), adding that India’s export growth has surpassed that seen globally.

Govt Plans ‘Crop War’ on Pulses, Oilseeds, Soybean, Cotton and Sugarcane to Boost Agricultural Growth: Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a high-level review meeting on June 24, 2024, at the ICAR Pusa Campus in New Delhi to assess the progress of the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’. The campaign, conducted from May 29 to June 12, is part of the government's vision to transform Indian agriculture under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Lab to Land’ initiative. More than 2,170 nodal officers participated in the review, both in person and virtually, sharing key insights, field-level experiences, and outcomes from the campaign.

Centre approves procurement of 2.5 lakh tonnes of mangoes from Karnataka
The central government has approved the procurement of mangoes from Karnataka. This is under the Market Intervention Scheme for 2025-26. Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy requested this due to surplus production and falling prices. The procurement price is set at ₹1,616 per quintal. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan responded to Kumaraswamy's concerns about low mango prices.
