Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said the government will tighten seeds and pesticides legislations and may bring amendments to the existing laws to ensure quality inputs to farmers. The minister pointed that many farmers have raised concerns about the quality of seeds and pesticides during the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a pan-India campaign to reach out to the farmer community.

India expects to finalise a free trade agreement with the European Union by the end of this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday, while Cyprus, which assumes the EU presidency in 2026, said better ties would be its priority. Modi, on an official visit to the east Mediterranean island, said there were unlimited possibilities in expanding economic ties with Cyprus in a visit aimed at pushing forward India’s global trade agenda.

In an unprecedented move, Uttar Pradesh has embarked on exporting its renowned Dussehri mangoes directly to Dubai. On Sunday, a total of 1,200 kg, comprising 400 boxes, each containing 3 kg of mangoes, was sent from Lucknow's Mango Pack House to Dubai importer Vergro Trading LLC. The shipment is valued at US$ 2,992.
