India’s imports of tree nuts such as almonds, walnuts and pistachio are seen rising by around 7 per cent for the marketing year 2025-26 starting September on growing domestic consumption.Factors such as growing population coupled with increasing disposable incomes and rising health awareness and nutritional benefits are fuelling demand for tree nuts such as walnuts, almonds and pistachios among others.

The country's horticulture production rose marginally by 4 percent to 369.05 million tonne in the crop year ended June 2025 on higher production of fruits and vegetables, according to an agriculture ministry data released on Tuesday. The horticulture production stood at 354.74 million tonne in the previous year. Horticultural crops are estimated to have been covered in an area of 29.48 million hectare in 2024-25 crop year (July-June), marginally higher than 29.08 million hectare in the previous year.

India and the Russia-led EAEU group will start formal negotiations for a trade agreement from Wednesday, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Tuesday. The Terms of Reference signed on August 20, 2025, outline an 18-month work plan aimed at diversifying markets for Indian businesses, including MSMEs, farmers and fishermen.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said the recently approved Rs 25,060 crore export promotion mission would incorporate targeted schemes to help landlocked states enhance their competitiveness in the export sector. He also called for a strong centre-state partnership to boost export growth. The minister was addressing the fourth Board of Trade (BoT) meeting here, a commerce ministry statement said.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that India's exports have rebounded this month till 21 November after falling 12% last month and are now in the positive zone, as reported by PTI. Goyal said that sectors like seafood have shown healthy growth and and as per quick estimates the country's merchandise exports continue to be on an upward trajectory till November 21 as compared to the same period last year. After chairing the Board of Trade meeting Goyal told the reporters that the exports are in the positive territory and significant growth has been seen in several sectors.

The government expects total area coverage under rabi (winter) crops like wheat to exceed the previous year's 655.88 lakh hectares, Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi said on Monday. "Rabi sowing is higher than last year's progress. There was a lot of rain. And in some areas because of the late harvesting, it's a bit delayed. But we hope that we will cover the rabi higher than last year," he told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.

India and Israel have revived negotiations for a long-pending Free Trade Agreement (FTA), nearly a decade after the last formal talks stalled, with experts saying the emphasis should be on strategic collaboration rather than merchandise trade.The Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) on Monday said that India–Israel trade remains modest, and the renewed push should focus on areas such as defence manufacturing, electronics, semiconductors, water and irrigation technology, precision agriculture, cybersecurity, and frontier R&D.“For both countries, therefore, the value of the renewed FTA effort lies less in merchandise trade and more in strategic cooperation -- in defence manufacturing, electronics, semiconductors, water and irrigation technology, precision agriculture, cybersecurity, and frontier R&D,” GTRI Founder Ajay Srivastava said.
