Organic food exports: NE focus, cereals & millets drive growth
New Delhi: India has set a target of Rs 20,000 crore (about $2 billion) of organic food exports by 2030, the government said Monday. India makes rare long-term soy purchases to secure cheap supply
Indian buyers have secured large purchases of soybean oil for the four months to July, a rare move in anticipation of rising prices of rival palm oil. Traders have locked in more than 150,000 tons of South American soybean oil for each month from April to July 2026, said Aashish Acharya, vice president at Patanjali Foods Ltd., one of the country’s top vegetable-oil buyers. The unusual buying was driven by soy’s average $20- to $30-a-ton discount to palm during that period, he added. Soy oil typically trades at a premium to palm oil.

Next phase of PLI for food processing on the way: Joshi
The announcement came on the sidelines of the 98th annual general meeting of federation of Indian chambers of commerce & industry (FICCI), where A. P. Das Joshi, Secretary, Food Processing, confirmed that the government is mobilising to kick off the next tranche of the scheme. Since its inception in 2021, the PLISFPI has driven significant investment and job creation across the country. As of late 2024, the scheme had already attracted over Rs 8,910 crore of investment across 213 locations, generating more than 2.89 lakh jobs. By encouraging domestic processing, the initiative has helped boost value-addition in agriculture, increased demand for local raw materials, and supported rural livelihoods.

New Labour Codes come as booster shot for India’s export sector
The competitiveness of these export-oriented industries depends heavily on the ability to maintain a flexible, compliant, and skilled workforce while adhering to international labour standards. In order to catalyse the growth momentum of the sector, the government’s recent integration of 29 laws into four streamlined Codes, enables an environment that promotes industrial efficiency while safeguarding workers’ interests, the statement explained.

International organic event inaugurated in Shillong
Organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with MEGNOLIA, APEDA, IFOAM-Organics Asia, and assisted by NERAMAC, the event brought together international buyers, importers, organic experts, and youth delegations from multiple countries, as per the Ministry of Commerce. The four-day international programme featuring the APEDA Buyer-Seller Meet, 1st Northeast India Organic Week, and the 4th IFOAM World Organic Youth Summit (28 November - 1 December 2025) was formally inaugurated on Saturday in Shillong.

Azerbaijan has begun importing dates from India.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported dates from Iran, Tunisia, Israel, Palestine and Algeria. This year, for the first time in the last 14 years, deliveries were made from India (0.04 tons worth US$300).

EIMA Agrimach India 2025 concludes with Agriculture Ministry advocating adoption of green fuel-based technologies in farm sector
Held at IARI ground, PUSA in New Delhi from November 27-29, 2025, the exhibition witnessed participation of about 20,000 farmers with major draw from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Odisha; more than 4000 domestic dealers & distributors, 180+ domestic and foreign companies; and 100+ foreign buyers from Algeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Oman, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Uganda, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, South Korea and Thailand. While Italy was Partnering country for the exhibition, Netherland, Japan, USA and Poland also participated in the exhibition.

"Imported blueberry demand grows nearly 50% over last year in India"
According to Loganathan, "Many Peruvian farms are also grappling with size issues in the later part of the season, producing more berries below the 14 mm size preferred by Indian buyers." He notes that most imports are coming via the Netherlands' wholesale ecosystem, which has kept supply reasonable so far. "However, we expect these Holland-routed volumes to gradually reduce in the coming weeks as the Peruvian season progresses."

India's export-driven businesses in sectors such as aluminium, iron and steel that face international regulatory shocks are increasingly exposed to risk due to climate inaction threatening their profits, operations, and long-term viability, according to global consulting firm BCG. India is among the top 10 countries most affected by extreme weather events, as the 'Climate Risk Index 2026' launched at COP30 reveals, and the cost of inaction for India is too big to ignore, BCG Managing Director and Senior Partner, Asia Pacific Leader, Climate & Sustainability, Sumit Gupta, told PTI in an emailed interview.
