Repeated requests from the industry to hike tariffs if the country is not competitive enough, need to be questioned amid India inking free trade agreements, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia said Wednesday.

On the second day of the 'Rising Rajasthan' Global Investment Summit 2024, a thematic session titled 'Agri-Business Innovations.

A three-day FPO Mela will be organized at the Gramin Haat Bazaar in Indore from December 14 to 16, 2024. The event is being hosted by the Small Farmers’ Agricultural Business Association (SFAC), under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The Mela will provide a platform for Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to showcase their products, promote organic farming, and connect directly with consumers.

A total of 399 cold chain projects have been approved since inception (2008) to till date (31.10.2024) under the component scheme- Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure (Cold Chain scheme) of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY).  Out of these, 284 cold chain projects have been completed and commenced their commercial operations.

India and Australia have made significant strides towards finalising their Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), with both nations agreeing on a roadmap for its early conclusion. During a three-day stocktake meeting held from 4–6 December 2024, officials from both countries discussed critical elements of the agreement, including trade in goods and services, mobility, and agri-tech cooperation.

India along with three other nations are opposing the China-led plurilateral Investment Facilitation for Development (IFD) agreement which seeks to put in place a pre-investment review or appeal system through an independent body to screen all investments.
