Statement on visit of team led by Assistant US Trade Representative to India.
A team of officials from the office of United States Trade Representative led by Chief Negotiator, India US Bilateral Trade Agreement negotiations Mr.Brendan Lynch visited India on September 16, 2025. They held discussions with officials from Department of Commerce, led by Special Secretary, Department of Commerce on India-US trade ties including on the India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement.

Centre sets Rabi foodgrains production target at 171 million tonnes.
Fertilizer became the main theme at the annual Rabi conference as most of the States demanded adequate availability during the next winter sowing season, commencing from October as the crop nutrients are essential to achieve targeted production. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while announcing that there is more than enough seeds available for the Rabi season refrained from disclosing the requirement of fertilizers.

India’s push for EU trade deal hit by basmati rice dispute.
A dispute over the protected status of basmati rice is adding to tensions between India and Pakistan, threatening to complicate New Delhi’s push for a trade deal with the EU. The South Asian rivals are the world’s biggest producers of the grain and each claim exclusive use of the term, bidding to restrict the 'basmati' label to rice grown in a designated area and thus allowing producers there to charge a premium.

Goods exports rise while imports dip, narrowing deficit in August.
Driven by electronics, engineering goods and gems and jewellery, India's goods exports rose 6.7% from a year earlier to $35.1 billion in August despite global uncertainties. Along with a fall in imports, this aided the merchandise trade deficit to narrow to $26.5 billion.

India Marks Three Years of National Logistics Policy: Transforming India’s Supply Chain Ecosystem.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, commemorates the third anniversary of the National Logistics Policy (NLP), launched by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 17th September 2022. Over the past three years, NLP has catalysed reforms across the logistics ecosystem, driving improvements in digital integration, skill development, policy alignment, and infrastructure planning. These initiatives have contributed significantly to enhancing efficiency and reducing logistics costs across domestic and international supply chains.

India opens rail link for Mizoram fruit trade.
Mizoram and adjoining areas have gained rail connectivity for the first time following the inauguration of the Bairabi-Sairang line by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The new service is expected to facilitate the marketing of indigenous fruits from the region to wider domestic and international markets.

India exports Baruipur guava to Singapore.
Baruipur guava, which carries a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, has entered the export market with shipments now moving to Singapore. A farmer producers' company (FPO), supported by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), has begun exporting the fruit after sorting and certification.

Dedicated rail service launched to aid Kashmir’s fruit economy.
In a first for the region, a dedicated parcel train pulled out of Budgam on Monday, a move expected to ease transport bottlenecks and boost Kashmir’s apple trade. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the Joint Parcel Product–Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS) from Nowgam railway station.

Kharif 2025. Maize leads acreage rise as outlook for Indian nutricereals turns optimistic.
The outlook for the 2025 kharif season is mixed but generally optimistic for nutricereals, also known as Shree Anna, across the country, with overall maize and millets acreage showing an increase, despite regional variations. Backed by a good minimum support price (MSP) of Rs.2,400 a quintal and the demand from both the ethanol and feed sectors significantly growing, maize leads the growth of the nutricereal crops in the season.
