The cross-party panel, which includes British Indian Conservative peer Baroness Sandy Verma, is seeking evidence from experts and stakeholders as part of the parliamentary process before the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) can come into effect.

Gujarat, which accounts for over 50 per cent of India’s total groundnut production, is projected to achieve a record-high of 66 lakh tonne of groundnut this year, according to the State government. Last year, the groundnut production in the State stood at 52.20 lakh tonne and as per preliminary estimates, Gujarat is expected to achieve 26 per cent more production this year.

Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said India and the European Union are looking forward to a robust, fair, equitable, balanced and a mutually beneficial win-win partnership in terms of an enduring free trade agreement (FTA). He was speaking at the annual session of the Automobile Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) on Friday. EU trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic, who was also present, said the two sides are maximising efforts to finalise negotiations for the FTA by December-end and that intensive negotiations are currently underway to achieve a 'groundbreaking' deal.

India's imported apple market is seeing fresh activity this season with new origins arriving alongside staple sources, says Vijay Bhatia, Managing Director of fresh produce importer Mheet International. 'Currently, New Zealand and USA apples are available, and from the 21st of September, Turkish apples will start arriving.' Bhatia, who claims to be among the first to load Turkish apples this year, shares, 'Mheet International has loaded two containers, and a business ally has two more from one of Turkey's largest growers and exporters, Gulbudak.' These shipments are from Turkey's 2025 new crop Gala apples.
