In Manipur, days 14-day-long 14th Sirarakhong Hathei Chilli Festival was inaugurated today at Sirarakhong Village in Ukhrul district. The festival is organised with the aim of promoting Sirarakhong Hathei, a GI-tag Chilli species grown in Sirarakhong Village, which is known for its unique aroma and flavour in the country. The inaugural day featured a range of activities, including a ceremonial flag hoisting, vibrant cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage of the region. A Buyer-Seller Meet was also held to foster economic opportunities for local farmers, and a tree plantation drive under the nationwide initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ was also held.

In Abu Dhabi, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, co-chaired the 13th India–UAE High-Level Joint Task Force on Investments. He has announced a new target of achieving $100 billion in non-oil, non-precious metals trade. Goyal said both nations will deepen ties in textiles, food processing, leather, pharmaceuticals, and fisheries. A key decision was to jointly develop infrastructure projects in third countries has also been taken.The meeting, attended by one of the largest-ever Indian business delegations to the UAE, reaffirmed the growing strategic and economic partnership.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday said India will not encourage or allow rerouting of domestic goods from the UAE to the US. He said that if Indian goods come to the UAE and are sent to other Asian countries or African nations, or other parts of the region, declaring that they are made in India, it will be a very welcome step.

India’s exports of agricultural and processed food products have continued at a brisk pace in the current fiscal year, with shipments rising by close to 10% on year to $10.03 billion in April-August, 2025-26. The rise in shipments was driven primarily by a sharp increase in exports of rice, buffalo meat, fruits and vegetables.
