The implementation process of free trade agreement (FTA) between India and the four-nation European bloc EFTA is progressing fast and is expected to come into force before the end of this year, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said. The two sides signed the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) on March 10, 2024. Under the pact, India has received an investment commitment of USD 100 billion in 15 years from the grouping while allowing several products such as Swiss watches, chocolates and cut and polished diamonds at lower or zero duties.

Homegrown Indian liquor makers are mulling approaching food & beverages regulator FSSAI for a separate standard for the Indian single malt whisky that is rapidly scaling with the ongoing trend of premiumisation and has won several prestigious international awards. This will help maintain the reputation of Indian single malt whisky - now exported to 60 countries - and Indian producers are discussing the move, according to Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies.

Jan 02, 2025 News Image Indian Cabinet nod for 1 Million Tonnes white rice export to IndonesiaL, says Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The Indian Cabinet on Wednesday approved a plan to export of 1 million tonnes of non-basmati white rice to Indonesia through the National Cooperative Export Ltd (NCEL).
Announcing the decision, Union Agriculture Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan said an agreement will be signed by the Indonesian government’s agency Bulog with India’s notified canalising agency NCEL.

The country's tobacco exports are likely to register an over 8 per cent growth and cross Rs 13,000 crore this year, a senior government official said on Wednesday. Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce Rajesh Agrawal also said the Tobacco Board has taken a number of steps to help farmers increase their income.
