Employment Generation in Food Processing Sector.
Food processing sector is one of the largest employment provider in the organized manufacturing sector contributing 12.91% of employment in the total registered/organized sector as per the report of Annual Survey of Industries 2022-23. Food Processing sector accounts for 20.4% of exports in total Agri-food exports in 2024-25 and having share of 7.93 % of Manufacturing Gross Value Added (GVA) in the country during 2023-24 (as per 1st Revised Estimates). The Gross Value Added (GVA) in this sector has increased from Rs.1.34 lakh Crore in 2014-15 to Rs 2.24 lakh crore in 2023-24 (as per 1st revised estimates).

Three US lawmakers introduce resolution to end India tariffs.
As many as three US lawmakers have introduced a resolution in Congress aimed at ending the tariffs imposed by the Donald Trump administration on India, saying the 'irresponsible tariff strategy' toward Delhi is a counterproductive approach that 'weakens a critical partnership.'

Agro Processing Clusters and Infrastructure.
National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management, at Kundli, Haryana and Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu which are autonomous institutes under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries have collaborated with several educational and research institutions to strengthen academic, technical, research and capacity-building initiatives in the food processing sector. NIFTEM-Thanjavur has conducted short term courses on Cold Chain Management.

Support to Farmers to Enhance Sustainability of Agriculture.
Agriculture is a State subject. Government of India supports the States through appropriate policy measures and budgetary allocation for schemes for farmers welfare. The Government has substantially enhanced the budget allocation of Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) from Rs. 21,933.50 crore BE during 2013-14 to Rs. 1,27,290.16 crore BE during 2025-26. The schemes/programmes of the Government of India that aim to increase productivity, sustainability, support mechanisms, provide remunerative returns, income support to farmers and mitigate the challenges faced by farmers including small and marginal farmers are annexed.

India identifies 300 products to boost exports to Russia.
As many as 300 products, including that of engineering goods, pharma, agri, and chemicals, hold huge potential for Indian exporters to push their shipments to Russia as the two countries target $100 billion trade by 2030, an official said. At present, India's exports of these goods to Russia stood at $1.7 billion, as against Russia's $37.4 billion in imports.

India–Mexico FTA talks begin amid looming tariff hikes.
India and Mexico have begun talks for a free trade agreement (FTA) to resolve issues arising out of the new tariffs imposed by Mexico, and terms of reference for the pact are expected to be firmed up soon, officials said. The development comes as Mexico has announced up to 50% tariffs on imports from non-preferential trade partners, including India, from January 1 next year. India is already engaged with Mexico for a trade agreement.

Telangana dairy cooperative to increase milk procurement to 6 lakh litres a day.
The Telangana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Ltd (TDDCF), which promotes Vijaya Dairy, has decided to increase milk procurement to 6 lakh litres a day over the next few months from 4.4 lakh litres a day currently, according to its Chairman Gutha Amith Reddy. 'Though we are procuring 4.4 lakh litres a day, we are selling 3.20 lakh litres a day. We are converting the surplus to make value-added products. Strengthening milk procurement and market absorption remains a key priority,' he added.

National Makhana Board holds first meeting; ₹476-crore Central Sector Scheme rolled out for holistic development of makhana sector
The first board meeting of the National Makhana Board, chaired by the Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, held today at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, initiated the implementation process for both the Board and the Central Sector Scheme. The Board reviewed Annual Action Plans submitted by States and research institutions and allocated budgets for various components aimed at holistic sectoral development.

Investment Under PLI Scheme
Under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI), cumulative investment of ₹9,207 crore has been made by the approved applicants. The cumulative export sales of the PLISFPI beneficiaries from FY April, 2021 to FY September, 2025 is Rs.89053.44 crore for the approved products. Under PLISFPI Scheme, 170 applications have been approved. No application has been pending for approval under the Scheme. This information was given by the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Shri Ravneet Singh in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
