APEDA opening new offices at Patna, Raipur, Dehradun to support agricultural exporters.
The commerce ministry's arm, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), has decided to open its three new regional offices in Patna, Dehradun and Raipur to support agricultural exporters, an official said. At present, the Delhi-headquartered authority has 16 regional offices in cities, including Bengaluru, Srinagar, Jammu, Ladakh, Guwahati, Mumbai, Varanasi, Kochi and Bhopal.

First consignment of Garhwali apples from Uttarakhand exported to Dubai.
In a landmark stride towards globalizing Uttarakhand's agricultural produce, the first trial consignment of 1.2 metric tons of Garhwali 'King Rot' apples was flagged off from Dehradun for Dubai on Thursday. The momentous dispatch was formally launched by Union Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal.

TN is uniquely positioned to gain from the India-Peru FTA.
India and Peru are negotiating a free trade agreement (FTA), and talks are expected to conclude by the end of this year or early 2026. Peru has significant reserves of rare earth minerals, which could aid TN's growing electronics and battery sectors. Several firms in TN have also expressed interest in tapping Peru's critical sectors. In an interview with TOI, Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, Ambassador of Peru to India, says Tamil Nadu stands to gain immensely from this deal.

India’s unloading of 20m tonnes of rice will plunge Thai prices, exporter warns.
The Thai Rice Exporters Association has warned that Thai rice prices are likely to plunge further next month after the Indian government moves to unload 20 million tonnes of rice from its stockpile. The scenario was predicted by Chukiart Opaswong, honorary president of the association.

A high-level meeting on areca nut development was held at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi, under the chairmanship of Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The meeting was attended by Union Minister of Heavy Industries H D Kumaraswamy, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament from areca nut–producing regions, and senior officials from various departments and ministries. Several important issues related to the areca nut crop were discussed in detail during the meeting.

Jaishankar flags 3 main issues in ties with US; says India has certain red lines for trade pact.
India has certain 'red lines' in its negotiations for a trade deal with the US and it will stand firm in protecting the interests of farmers and small producers, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday, days before additional American tariffs on Indian goods are set to come into effect. Jaishankar also sounded critical of the US for targeting New Delhi's energy ties with Moscow and wondered why the same yardstick has not been applied to China and the European Union, the largest importer of Russian crude oil and Russian LNG, respectively.
