Bangladesh: 27,000 tons of rice to be imported from India.
Another 27,000 tons of boiled rice are coming from India in the second shipment. The vessel carrying the rice is expected to arrive at the Chittagong port on January 10.
Mohammad Shahid Uddin Mahmud, Sub-Controller of the Chittagong Shipping and Preservation Control Office, confirmed this information.

State Government to set up potato processing plant in Una: HP CM.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that State Government is planning to establish a potato processing plant in Una district, with an investment of approximately Rs 20 crore. The plant will have a minimum processing capacity of 500 kg per hour and will primarily focus on producing potato flakes and agricultural department has been directed to formulate a detailed project report (DPR) in this regard. He said that agriculture accounts for 14 percent of Himachal Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product, with potatoes being a key crop.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority issues LoA for agri processing facility.
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) said it has issued Letter of Award (LoA) to Trident Agrocom Exports Private Ltd and Man Infraconstruction Ltd consortium for the development of an export-import cum domestic agriculture commodity-based processing and storage facility on its land.

India's exports to cross USD 800 bn this fiscal: Piyush Goyal.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said despite global economic uncertainties, India's exports of goods and services are expected to cross USD 800 billion this fiscal, which will be a record. Last fiscal year, the exports stood at USD 778 billion.

Commerce ministry, Indian mission officials of 20 nations to discuss ways to boost exports in Jan 6-8 meet.
Senior officials from the commerce ministry, and commercial wings of Indian Missions of 20 countries will hold a three-day meet, beginning here on Monday, to discuss ways to promote exports of goods and services, an official said. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will also interact with these commercial representatives on January 6.

India, Iran discuss development of Chabahar Port, trade relations.
India and Iran on Friday carried out a comprehensive review of their ties including the joint development of the Chabahar port, ways to boost trade and economic engagement and possible cooperation in agriculture and some other sectors. At the 19th India-Iran Foreign Office Consultations held in Delhi, the Iranian side is learnt to have requested New Delhi to explore ways to resume procurement of Iranian crude oil.

Govt permits export of 2 lakh tonne wheat to Nepal.
The government has permitted exports of two lakh tonne of wheat to Nepal, according to a notification issued on Saturday. The export is permitted through National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in the notification.
