Pact with UK a gold standard, with zero compromise: Piyush Goyal.
The comprehensive economic trade agreement (CETA) with the UK is a stepping stone and will serve as a 'gold standard for more such pacts with other advanced economies, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday. He said negotiations with the US on the proposed trade agreement are progressing fast. Goyal said India has protected all sensitive sectors, including dairy, rice and sugar in the CETA. He said the agreement with the UK will help boost exports of abour intensive products such as footwear, textiles and gems and jewellery.

Govt to hold 1,000 stakeholder meetings, workshops, outreach programmes on India-UK trade pact.
The government will organise as many as 1,000 outreach programmes, including stakeholder meetings, workshops, awareness drives and feedback sessions, in the next 20 days across the country to sensitise industry and states on the India-UK trade agreement, sources said. The exercise is aimed at ensuring effective implementation and maximising benefits from the comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA), which was signed on July 24.

Good if US trade pact sealed by August 1, but nation first: Piyush Goyal.
Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday said it would be good if India and the US can do a trade agreement before August 1 but New Delhi's priority is to protect its national and public interests. 'Koi deadline ke hisab se Bharat negotiate nahi karta (India doesn't negotiate its trade agreements based on deadlines),' Goyal added at an event in Mumbai on the opportunities for exports in the UK market following the bilateral free trade agreement.

Higher market access to help boost farm exports.
India’s exports of agricultural and processed food products to the UK are expected to get a significant boost with elimination of tariffs on over 95% of these items under the India–UK comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA). The pact would provide smallholders farmers of the country preferential access to the UK’s $ 63 billion agricultural market.

Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and J-K to benefit from free trade agreement.
Farmers and food-processing units are set to benefit from the India-UK free trade agreement (FTA) as basmati rice, cotton, groundnut, fruits, vegetables, onion, pickles, spices, tea and coffee, etc, would be exempt from duty when exported to the UK. Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand are major producers of basmati rice, vegetables and fruits. Cotton is another crop grown across the plains in northern states while fruits form a chunk of Himachal Pradesh’s economy.

PM Modi London visit highlights: Prime Minister leaves for Maldives after concluding U.K. visit.
India and the U.K. on Thursday (July 24, 2025) signed a landmark trade deal to boost two-way trade by eliminating tariffs on cars, textiles, whisky and range of other products as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his U.K. counterpart Keir Starmer firmed up the ‘Vision 2035’ strategy to expand ties in areas of defence, technology, clean energy and migration. Following the Modi-Starmer talks at Chequers, the countryside residence of the British PM, India and the UK also unveiled a defence industrial roadmap for co-development and co-production of key defence products and platforms.

Catalysed by business associations, Indian and Canadian government representatives have held multiple discussions in recent days focused on trade and investment. On Wednesday, the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber (ICBC) organised a business roundtable in Toronto, a closed-door dialogue on the 'evolving' India-Canada economic relationship. India and UK Sign Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
India and the United Kingdom have taken a major step in building a stronger economic partnership with the signing of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) today under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The agreement was signed by Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr. Piyush Goyal and Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Mr. Jonathan Reynolds in the presence of the two Prime Ministers.

Indian Govt to reduce broken rice percentage in 50 lakh tonnes of FCI stock.
After the success of a pilot project last year in four States, the Centre is ready with a plan to segregate broken grain percentage in as much as 50 lakh tonnes (lt) of rice this year. This will improve the quality of the cereal and potentially increase its value in the market when auctioned.
