India-EU FTA talks intensify as EU negotiators arrive in New Delhi.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, held a meeting with European Union (EU) Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Maros Sefcovic, to discuss the progress on India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations. In a social media post, the minister stated, 'Had a productive meeting with @MarosSefcovic, EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, and @CHansenEU, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food. Discussed strengthening the India-EU trade & investment ties, advancing the FTA, and deepening cooperation across priority areas. Both sides are committed to balanced and mutually beneficial outcomes.'

ISMA urges Centre to allow 2 million tonnes sugar exports as production seen rising 16% on bumper Maharashtra, Karnataka output.
Industry body Indian Sugar & Bio-energy Manufacturers' Association (ISMA) has urged the central government to allow export of two million tonnes of sugar in 2025-26 as the industry body has projected an year-on-year increase of 16% in the gross domestic production driven by favourable weather conditions in Maharashtra and Karnataka. 'With a comfortable sugar balance, India is well-positioned to export nearly 20 lakh tons this season. We have strongly urged the government to announce the export policy at the earliest, so mills can proactively plan their raw and white sugar production strategies in advance,' said ISMA in a media release.

BIRC 2025 concludes with Rs 30,435-Cr MoUs.
The two-day Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025 concluded at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, marking a significant boost for India’s agricultural exports and advancements in rice processing technology. Supported by the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, along with several government and industry bodies, the conference drew an impressive 10,854 visitors, including 1,083 international buyers and 154 exhibitors from across the country. Strengthening India’s trade partnerships, MoUs worth Rs 30,435crore were signed on the concluding day alone, underscoring growing global confidence in India’s rice sector.

Centre to hold awareness meet in Ongole on Rs 564-crore horticulture cluster development plan.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, is rolling out the Horticulture Cluster Development Programme (CDP) nationwide through the National Horticulture Board (NHB), aiming for holistic growth of horticultural crops across the value chain. An awareness session on the CDP will be held at the Joint Director of Horticulture (JDH) office in Ongole at 10 am on Tuesday.

Rice procurement up 46%, govt purchase was over 70 lt in Oct 16-31.
Centre’s rice purchase at minimum support price (MSP) got a further boost during the second half of October as the Food Corporation of India (FCI) was able to procure over 70 lakh tonnes (lt) against about 60 lt a year-ago. The total purchase in October crossed 119 lt, while it was 81.85 lt the corresponding period last year. Rice procurement in the first fortnight of October was 48.47 lt.
