India not to compromise with interests of farmers, dairy, workers in trade deals: Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said India will not compromise with the interests of farmers, dairy and workers in trade deals. He also said India is looking for new markets such as Russia for the country's fishery sector, which is facing issues due to the steep tariffs in the US.

FSSAI clarifies: Honey exceeding HMF limit to be classified as ‘substandard,’ not ‘unsafe’

Bangladesh approves import of 50,000 tons of non-Basmati rice
The Ministry of Food initiated the proposal, and the Directorate General of Food will execute it.The proposal involves the purchase of rice from M/S Gurudeo Exports Corporation Private Limited, a supplier based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. Under the procurement plan, the total cost of the consignment is estimated at Tk217.68 crore, with each tonne priced at $356.78. Gurudeo Exports was selected as the responsive bidder following the evaluation of submissions under the international tender process.Once imported, the rice will be added to the government’s food stock to support market stabilisation and social safety net programs.

Top Rice Importer Philippines Sets Rules on Tariff Changes
Marcos said tariff adjustments based on movements in international prices will go into effect on Jan. 1, after extending 15% rice import tariffs until year-end, Import duties will be increased by five percentage points for every 5% decline in world rice prices, or lowered by five percentage points for every 5% increase in global prices, according to the order. “However, the Most Favored Nation rates of duty on rice, both in-quota and out-quota, shall in no case be below 15% or above 35%,” the order stated.

India plans 1.5 mln ton sugar export quota on higher domestic surplus
Exports will help reduce sugar stocks in the country and support local prices, benefiting producers such as Balrampur Chini Mills (BACH.NS), opens new tab, EID Parry (EIDP.NS), opens new tab, Dalmia Bharat (DALB.NS), opens new tab, and Shree Renuka Sugars (SRES.NS), opens new tab, whose shares rose up to 5% in early trade on Monday."We have agreed to allow sugar exports this year, keeping in mind surplus stocks and farmers' interests," said a government source who did not wish to be quoted ahead of the final order. The government is likely to allow sugar exports of 1.5 million tons in the 2025/26 season, which began on October 1, with a final order expected soon, said another government official, who did not wish to be named as he was not authorised to speak to the media.

In his inaugural address, Shri Chouhan said, “Mandia Dibasa is not merely a day of celebration, it represents a meaningful campaign to promote Shree Anna. “Many have spoken about it, but Odisha has truly brought this vision to the ground. Chouhan asks agri scientists to develop high-quality millet seeds
Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday asked agriculture scientists to develop high-quality millet seeds to make it a profitable crop so that farmers can divert towards it. Chouhan said this while addressing the international symposium on Shree Anna (Millet) and Woman Farmer here on the occasion of 'Mandia Divas' (Millets Day). "The farmers are looking for crops which will give them better financial benefits. So, it is a challenge before us to make millet as a profitable crop so that the farmers can divert toward the cultivation of millets," he said.
