India eyes export gains as US-China trade war opens market opportunities.
The commerce and industry ministry has begun work on identifying export opportunities emanating from the US-China trade war even as officials said that the 90-day reprieve to the Indian exporters would give them and their overseas buyers time to share the burden of additional 10% tariffs with the consumers. 'We are exploring export opportunities because of the tariff war. A fresh exercise is being done as both sides are uncertain about the tariffs,' said an official.

India, Russia agree on 6 new strategic projects to boost bilateral investment cooperation.
India and Russia have agreed on six new strategic projects to deepen bilateral investment cooperation, the commerce and industry ministry said on Wednesday. It was agreed during a session of the India-Russia Working Group on Priority Investment Projects (IRWG-PIP) under the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation.

Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal chairs a meeting on the emerging trade scenario with Export Promotion Councils and Industry bodies.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, today held discussions with the Export Promotion Councils and Industry Bodies in New Delhi in the light of the emerging trade scenario. The meeting was called to deliberate on the impact as well as opportunities arising out of the evolving and very dynamic scenarios and to apprise the industry and trade about the steps being taken by the Government.

European Union cashew nut imports soar as Indian shipments rise 8%.
Riding on surging cashew nut imports to the European Union, India has witnessed a modest 8 per cent rise in exports during the first quarter (Q1) of 2025. Vietnam accounted for 72 per cent of total EU imports. Cashew nut imports by the EU soared to an unprecedented level in Q1 2025, registering a record 42,850 tonnes valued at €273 million ($300 million). This marks a significant increase of 16 per cent in volume and 42 per cent in value compared with the same period in 2024, when 37,054 tonnes worth €193 million ($212 million) were imported, said J Rajmohan Pillai, Chairman of Beta Group, which owns the brand NutKing.

India and Israel sign key agriculture deal to boost cooperation and food security.
India and Israel on Tuesday signed a comprehensive agriculture agreement with the aim of boosting bilateral agricultural collaboration and food security, and modernising farming practices. The agreement was signed in Delhi between Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Israel's Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Avi Dicter, who marked his first official visit to India in his current capacity.

UK Chancellor, Finance Minister Sitharaman announce $400 million in new trade.
UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced USD 400 million in new trade and investment deals at the 13th UK-India Economic and Financial Dialogue in London on Thursday. In a post on X, the British High Commission in India wrote, 'The UK and India are growing together. Chancellor @RachelReevesMP and Minister @nsitharaman have announced £400m of trade and investment wins at the 13th UK-India Economic and Financial Dialogue in London.'

Sugar exports from India near 3 lakh tonnes, says AISTA.
India has exported 2.87 lakh tonnes (lt) of sugar till April 8 out of 10 lt quota permitted by the government in January in the ongoing 2024-25 season (October-September), out of which maximum quantity has been shipped to Somalia, All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA) said on Wednesday. The sugar despatch from mills for export, however, was 3.05 lt, as nearly 18,000 tonnes are in transit or under loading.

India's exports cross $820 bn in 2024-25: Commerce ministry.
The country's goods and services exports have crossed USD 820 billion in 2024-25, marking a nearly 6 per cent increase over the previous fiscal year despite global economic uncertainties, the commerce ministry said on Wednesday. The exports stood at USD 778 billion in 2023-24. The commerce ministry informed exporters about the figure during a meeting called to deliberate on the opportunities arising out of the current situation and to apprise the industry about the steps being taken by the government to deal with it.

India terminates transshipment facility for Bangladesh to export goods to third countries.
The government has terminated the transshipment facility that allowed export cargo from Bangladesh to third countries using Indian land customs stations en route to ports and airports, according to a government circular. Indian exporters, mainly from the apparel sector, had earlier urged the government to withdraw this facility to the neighbouring country.

He was accompanied by the Ambassador of India to Nepal Shri Naveen Srivastava, Shri Samuel Praveen Kumar, Joint Secretary, DA&FW, Dr D.K. Yadava, Dy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR and Dr A.K. Mishra, Principal Scientist, ICAR in the meetings.
