Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal holds high-level meeting with Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani in Brescia
The JCEC saw robust participation from senior officials, policymakers, and stakeholders from both sides in a spirit of constructive engagement and mutual ambition. The dialogue reaffirmed the strategic economic partnership between the two nations and aligns with the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–29 to promote economic resilience, industrial partnerships, and inclusive, sustainable growth. India and Italy agreed to prioritize cooperation in several emerging and strategic sectors. These include Industry 4.0, aerospace, energy transition, and sustainable mobility. The two sides also stressed the importance of joint efforts in skill development, digital transformation, migration and mobility, as well as global connectivity initiatives such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).Several concrete outcomes emerged from the JCEC. India and Italy resolved to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and food processing, and to set up Joint Working Groups in the automobile and space sectors. Both sides identified collaboration opportunities in sustainable agri-value chains, agri-machinery, food packaging technologies, and renewable energy. Eye on strong export advantage, India not keen to dent Turkey trade ties with curbs
“We have received a number of representations to ban imports from Turkey. Apple-growers from Himachal Pradesh have sought a ban on apple imports from Turkey. But India runs a trade surplus with Turkey and we have to keep in mind our exporters’ interests too. It (a trade ban) could be a strong geopolitical message, but it’s about how far you want to take it,” a Government official told The Indian Express. The trade surplus assumes significance as India’s outbound shipments to Turkey largely consist of industrial exports, such as engineering goods, electronics, and organic and inorganic chemicals, which have increased over the past five years. In contrast, Turkey’s exports to India are largely limited to fruits, nuts, gold and marble. Turkey had also stepped up petroleum product imports from India following the Ukraine war but this category has seen a significant decline in FY25.

Jammu and Kashmir launch new poly greenhouse at Horticulture Department headquarters
The new facility allows for year-round cultivation of fruit plants, regardless of seasonal changes. District Horticulture Officer Sanjeev Kumar said that the department previously relied on seeds to grow plants, which typically took seven years to bear fruit. However, with the introduction of grafting techniques in the poly greenhouse, fruit plants will begin producing in just three years. Speaking to IANS, Sanjeev Kumar highlighted the broader goals of HADP, which has been active in J&K for the past two years. "There are 29 projects under HADP, inaugurated by PM Modi. Our focus is horticulture, specifically under projects 9, 15, and 21. We want people to grow their own plants, reduce dependence on external sources, and become self-reliant," he stated. "We also plan to provide similar high-tech poly greenhouse nurseries to farmers on a subsidy basis, helping them boost productivity and income," Sanjeev Kumar said.

Export prices for guava from India mostly stable, demand is strong.
The production and exports for guavas from India are constantly growing, according to Sourabh Jaiswal, Business Development Manager for Indian produce exporter KK Star: 'Our guava production has continued its steady growth. This means that overall, guava cultivation has increased, and this year's output is higher than in previous years as a result. The weather is playing a mixed role this season. In southern states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, there was heavy rainfall from March to April, which helped maintain good soil moisture for guava crops. On the other hand, some central regions such as Madhya Pradesh faced a shortage of rain, which put stress on the plants and could affect the final yields. Weather unpredictability remains a challenge for growers.'
