Indian agriculture market to touch Rs.38 lakh crore by FY30: Report.
India’s agriculture market is set to touch Rs.38 lakh crore by financial year 2030, up from ₹31 lakh crore in FY25, according to a report. This growth of approximately 4 per cent per annum will be largely driven by the changing consumer demand for food products, new farming methods and technological advancements, the report – Innovations in Agriculture brought out by 1Lattice and The Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) – said. The report was released at the Startup Mahakumbh in Delhi recently.

India advocates strengthened bilateral, economic ties with Nigeria.
The Acting High Commissioner of India to Nigeria, Vartika Rawat has called for more improved bilateral trade and economic ties between the two countries for shared growth and prosperity. Rawat made the call while speaking at a panel discussion held during the maiden edition of India trade expo 2025 in Lagos.

Non-trade issues take backseat in FTA talks.
Developed countries are softening their stance on pushing non-trade issues such as sustainability and environment in their free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations with India, officials said-a shift that could smoothen ongoing trade talks with partners like the EU and the UK. 'Gradually those countries are suggesting to start business first and look into the rest of the extraneous issues later,' one of the officials told ET.

India to implement new tariff line for rice exports from May 1.
A new tariff line regime for rice-based on process (parboiled, others) and on variety (rice recognised by the Geographical Indication Registry, Basmati, others) will be implemented by the Centre from May 1 for the cereal’s export, Minister of State for Commerce Jitin Prasada told Parliament on Friday. 'This will benefit the more than 20 GI varieties of rice, as defined and recognised by the Geographical Indications Registry under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999, which are grown in more than 10 States/UTs of India,' he said in a written reply.

India may not lose much in agriculture due to Trump's tariffs: Economist Ashok Gulati.
Ashok Gulati, a well-known Indian agricultural economist and professor at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), said that India is unlikely to face major losses in its agricultural exports due to new tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump. In fact, he stated that if India negotiates wisely during bilateral trade talks with the US, it could even gain some ground.

India amends import policy on roasted arecanut to support domestic farmers.
The Indian government has brought 'Roasted Areca Nuts' under a single code 08028090, placing it under the prohibited category against the earlier free regime. In its latest notification, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) brought ‘Roasted Areca Nuts,’ which was falling under ITC (HS) Code 08028090 and 20081920.

Bangladesh imports 10,850MT more rice from India.
Another consignment of 10,850 metric tonnes (MTs) of Indian parboiled rice arrived at the country’s premier seaport, Chattogram Port on Thursday. A vessel ‘MV HT UNITE’ carrying the consignment docked at the port, said a media release sent from the Ministry of Food.

ICAR scientists simplify cashew nut separation from cashew apple with 3 innovative machines.
The method of separating cashew nut from cashew apple has remained a labour-intensive process. But not any more. A team of scientists from ICAR – Directorate of Cashew Research (DCR), Puttur, and ICAR – Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering (CIAE), Research Station, Coimbatore, has come out with solutions for cashew nut separation from cashew apple. Based on the requirements of different segments of the farming community — ranging from a farmer with small holdings to FPOs (farmer producer organisations) —the team has developed three machines to carry out this process.

India doing better than other countries after US tariffs: NSE CEO.
Asserting that a situation of confusion persists in the world after the recent imposition of reciprocal tariffs by the US, NSE Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ashish Kumar Chauhan on Sunday said India is doing much better than other countries. He said a clear situation is expected to emerge within the next one or two weeks as there will be negotiations and the duty structure will be stabilized.

Indian Food Importers and ProChile Strengthen Agrifood Trade Ties in Presence of Chilean President.
The Forum of Indian Food Importers (FIFI) and ProChile, the Chilean government agency dedicated to the international promotion of exports, signed a Memorandum of Understanding today, aimed at strengthening the trade of food and beverages between Chile and India. The agreement was signed in the presence of Chile's President Gabriel Boric, who is currently on a State visit to India this week, to enhance commercial ties and cultural exchange with between both nations. The President is accompanied by ministers from various sectors, from mining to agriculture, as well as a business delegation that includes representatives from food export associations and companies.
