UCCIL Strengthens UK-Odisha Trade Ties.
Dr. Prabodh Mohanty, President of the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (UCCIL), led a delegation to meet with Dr. Andrew Fleming, the British Deputy High Commissioner for East and North East India. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, chaired a high-level meeting at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi to review farmers’ complaints received through platforms such as the PM-Kisan Portal, Kisan e-Mitra, and Kisan Call Center. He sought detailed updates on the grievances and directed officials to ensure their timely and effective redressal.

India’s Dairy Exports Record 80% Jump In 2024-25.
India has recorded an 80 per cent growth in the export of dairy products at $492.9 million during 2024-25, making it an important earner of foreign exchange in the food segment. In volume terms dairy exports worked out to 113,350.4 metric tonnes during the financial year, registering a growth of 77.9 per cent over the corresponding figure of 2023-24, according to official figures. The major export destinations for Indian milk products include the United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh and Bhutan. India has ranked first in milk production in the world since 1998 and now contributes 25 per cent of global milk production.

India moves closer to FTA with Eurasian bloc amid strained trade talks with US.
India has finalized terms for free trade agreement (FTA) talks with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as New Delhi steps up efforts to expand its trade partnerships amid strained relations with the US. The terms of reference (ToR) were signed in Moscow by Ajay Bhadoo, additional secretary in the Department of Commerce, and Mikhail Cherekaev, deputy director of the Trade Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

Milk and Milk Products.
The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Government of India does not regulate the procurement and sale prices of milk. These are determined by cooperative and private dairies based on factors such as cost of production, stocks of dairy commodities (e.g., white butter, skimmed milk powder), and prevailing domestic and international market conditions. However, DAHD regularly monitors the milk situation in coordination with State Milk Federations and other stakeholders.

Parliamentary Panel for reset of export strategy.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance has suggested a 'recalibration of India's export strategy' with a heightened focus on manufacturing competitiveness and greater market diversification to beat the impact of external headwinds. To realise this, the government needs to expand support for production linked incentive schemes into high-technology and green manufacturing, where India has the potential to gain a strategic edge, the panel said in a report titled 'Roadmap for Indian Economic Growth In Light Of Global Economic and Geopolitical Circumstances', which was submitted with the Lok Sabha Tuesday.

India tops world chart in turmeric export with 66% share, Lok Sabha told.
India exported 176,325 metric tons of turmeric in the last fiscal, wherein 155.35 million USD worth turmeric was exported through Maharashtra. In a reply to a question in Lok Sabha, the Ministry of Commerce and Trade has submitted that India tops the world chart in turmeric export with a 66% share in global turmeric market.

Higher paddy, maize acreage boost overall kharif area.
Kharif sowing is nearing completion as farmers have already planted crops in over 95 per cent of the normal area of about 1,097 lakh hectares (lh) so far. With about 44 lh covered during the past week ( against 63 lh in the previous week) and the lead over year-ago period further narrowing to less than 4 per cent, the government is keeping a close watch on crop losses due to heavy rains.
