PM Modi says 100 underperforming farm districts will be elevated to match other farming regions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said 100 underperforming agricultural districts will be brought on par with other farming regions through the implementation of the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana. In his longest Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Modi outlined a clear roadmap for the future of Indian agriculture while paying emotional tribute to farmers, calling them the backbone of the nation's journey from dependency to self-reliance.

Southern TN emerges as south India’s next export hub.
Southern Tamil Nadu is fast emerging as South India’s new industrial and export powerhouse, buoyed by a wave of large-scale investments and targeted state policy. The launch of Vietnamese electric vehicle giant VinFast’s plant in Thoothukudi earlier this month has set the tone, drawing in capital and industry to districts including Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanniyakumari, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi and Madurai, creating what officials call a “significant economic corridor” in the state’s south.

Kenya turns to India for rice imports as farmers decry unsold harvests.
Kenya has announced plans to import half a million tonnes of rice duty-free, mostly from India and Pakistan, to address what it calls an imminent shortage. But the decision has sparked outrage among local farmers, who insist they are already sitting on unsold stocks from recent good harvests and warn that cheap imports will devastate their livelihoods.

Bangladesh: 100 metric tonnes of Indian onion arrive at Sonamasjid Land Port.
Amid the rising price of onion at local market, a consignment of 100 metric tonnes (MT) of the spicy item arrived at Sonamasjid Land Port of the bordering district of Chapainawabganj from India on Thursday evening. Four trucks carrying the consignment entered Bangladesh land port around eight months after the neighbouring country halted exporting onion.

Bangladesh’s duty-free rice import prompts 14% surge in Indian prices.
Dhaka announced on Wednesday it would allow duty-free imports of 500,000 tonnes of rice in a move aimed at stabilising domestic prices, which have risen about 16% in the current financial year. Bangladesh imported 1.3 million tonnes last year to meet demand, reports the Times of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the National Natural Farming Mission at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in New Delhi on August 23, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said on Thursday.After a meeting with state agriculture ministers via video conferencing, Chouhan told reporters here, "The National Natural Farming Mission was also discussed. India’s Bengaluru airport mango exports up 12%
The shipments, equivalent to 3.15 million mangoes grown in Karnataka and neighbouring states, were carried by 24 airlines to markets including Dulles, Dallas–Fort Worth, San Francisco, Chicago, and Seattle.This season's exports included 19 new destinations, representing a 21% increase over the previous season. Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Operating Officer of Bangalore International Airport Ltd, said, "At BLR Airport, we take great pride in being a trusted link between our farmers and global consumers. The success of this mango season speaks to the collaborative efforts of our regulatory bodies, airline partners, cargo handlers, trade promotion councils, trade bodies, and farming communities."
