Centre approves procurement plan for pulses, oilseeds in 4 states at Rs 15,000 cr.
The Centre on Monday approved the procurement plan of pulses and oilseeds worth over Rs 15,000 crore from farmers in four states, including Maharashtra. According to an official statement, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved the procurement plan for pulses and oilseeds in the states of Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh for the Kharif 2025-26 season.

India, Germany discuss shared commitment to early conclusion of India–EU FTA.
India and Germany Monday discussed areas of mutual interest and growth, and their shared commitment to an early conclusion of the India–EU free trade agreement (FTA). The issues were taken up during commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal’s visit to Brussels where he met Johann Wadephul, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Germany.

Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan approves major procurement plans for pulses and oilseeds in Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh for Kharif 2025–26 season.
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved the procurement plan for pulses and oilseeds in the states of Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh for the Kharif 2025–26 season. The total approved procurement amount for these states is pegged at Rs. 15,095.83 crore, which will immensely benefit lakhs of farmers across the respective states.

Commerce Ministry clarifies: Govt giving only non-financial support to Bharat Rice Conference.
The commerce ministry on Monday clarified that the two-day Bharat International Rice Conference is being organised here by a private body IREF and the government is only giving non-financial support to the event. The clarification is important as certain allegations have been made against national President of Indian Rice Exporters' Federation (IREF) Prem Garg.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, will visit Brussels, Belgium on 27–28 October 2025, to hold high-level discussions with H.E. Maroš Šefčovič, Executive Vice-President and European Commissioner for Trade of the European Union. The visit comes at a crucial stage in the ongoing India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, as both sides intensify efforts to conclude a comprehensive, balanced, and mutually beneficial trade agreement at the earliest. Building on the momentum generated by the 14th round of negotiations held earlier this month, the Minister’s visit aims to provide strategic direction and political impetus to the talks.

India looks to increase rice exports to 26 markets: APEDA Chairman.
Rice exports are growing at a healthy rate and the country looks to increase shipments to 26 global markets, including the Philippines, Indonesia, the UK and Mexico, APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev said on Friday. Rice exports in September rose by 33.18 per cent to USD 925 million, and during April-September by 10 per cent to USD 5.63 billion.

Indonesia’s suspension of Indian groundnut imports may end soon.
An Indonesian team is scheduled to visit India this month-end to end the impasse over the suspension of Indian groundnut imports by Jakarta. Indonesia suspended the import of groundnuts from India from September 3, following a notification issued on August 27. The suspension followed reports of the presence of aflatoxins, seen as molds in grains and oilseeds, in Indian groundnuts.

Russia’s idea of BRICS grain exchange to counter CME gains momentum.
India is set to benefit from a proposed grain exchange among BRICS, which is seen as an alternative to CME, the US based futures trading platform. Simultaneously Brazil has been pushing its proposal for creation of a multilateral stockpile of grains within BRICS to reduce external market reliance. The US decision to hike import tariff to use it as a weapon so that other countries accept its terms for any bilateral trade agreement, has revived activities within BRICS to meet the deadline of the roll out of the Russian and Brazillian proposals, at least on pilot basis, sources said.

India's agriculture sector, with a GDP of $262 billion, showcases remarkable resilience, being minimally dependent on imports. This achievement is largely credited to agribusiness companies, which have outpaced many other sectors in growth over recent decades. Notably, the agriculture industry has seen a 28 percent increase in total shareholder returns over the past 10 years, a remarkable 17 percent higher than the broader Indian market.

Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025 to position India’s Leadership in Global Rice Supply Chain.
The Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has announced that the Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025 will be held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on 30th – 31st October 2025. Conceived as a global platform aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Conference will bring together producers, exporters, importers, policymakers, financiers, logisticians, research institutions, and allied service providers to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and resilience in the global rice trade. Sustainability, innovation, and transparent, rules-based commerce will be at the core of the deliberations.
