The Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Department of Commerce, has facilitated the first-ever air shipment of GI-tagged Indi Lime from Karnataka and Puliyankudi Lime from Tamil Nadu to the United Kingdom.

'Over the past month, the UAE onion market has seen a sharp decline due to an excessive supply of Garwa onions from India. This is the final stretch for the Garwa crop, and many traders are clearing their stocks that were stored months earlier. The coming months will see the new red onion crop entering the market as demand for Garwa naturally fades.'

India's rice traders plan to seek export deals for the new season's crop with buyers in emerging markets such as Iraq, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, a top industry official said, after above-average monsoon rains boosted output. 'India is already a major player in the global rice trade, and our aim now is to tap buyers in less-served markets to further boost exports at a time when production and stocks are strong,' Dev Garg, vice president of the Indian Rice Exporters Federation, said on Monday.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Monday said it plans to launch a pilot of Bharat Aayat Niryat Lab Setu, a digital single-window platform to link testing and inspection agencies nationwide for faster and paperless certification of export and import consignments. In a trade notice, It said that the initiative seeks to streamline the process of testing and certification by digitally connecting exporters, importers, and accredited testing and inspection agencies through a unified online interface.
