India, US ‘very close’ to sealing trade pact: Both sides converge on core issues, legal language being finalised amid tariff uncertainties.
India and the US are 'very near' to concluding their proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA), as both sides are converging on most issues and working on the legal language of the pact, an official said Friday. The two sides are finding common ground on pending matters, the official added, ruling out the emergence of any new issues for now.

UP to procure 6 Mt paddy worth ₹14,000 crore in 2025-26 Kharif season
For the current season, the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy has been hiked to ₹2,369 per quintal (100 kg) for the common variety and ₹2,389 per quintal for Grade A, compared to ₹2,300 per quintal and ₹2,320 per quintal respectively last year.While procurement of paddy began in the western UP districts on October 1, the process will commence on November 1 in the eastern UP region.

India becomes Asia’s new snack supplier: Processed potato exports surge 450%; GTRI credits Gujarat, UP
Exports of dehydrates potato granules and pellets reached $63.3 million in FY2025, jumping from $11.4 million in FY2022. Other potato products, such as flour, starch, chips, and ready-to-eat items, have also grown rapidly, rising to $18.8 million over the same period. Potato flour alone recorded a staggering 1,100% increase.Ajay Srivastav, founder of GTRI Ajay Srivastav said, “Nearly 80 per cent of shipments go to Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, and Thailand, reflecting India’s integration into Southeast Asia’s snack and convenience-food supply chain.”

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Announces Measures to Strengthen KVKs Nationwide
To discuss strategies for strengthening Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across the country. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Secretary Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, ICAR Director General Dr. M.L. Jat, and other senior officials. India currently has 731 KVKs functioning as vital links between agricultural research and the farming community. Chouhan emphasised that while the expansion of the KVK network is ongoing, the immediate priority is to empower existing KVKs so they can serve small and marginal farmers more effectively.

his strategic collaboration aims to create a comprehensive framework enabling startups to access customized banking solutions, credit and funding opportunities, digital and payment infrastructure, and capacity-building programs. The partnership reinforces DPIIT’s commitment to nurturing an innovation-led economy and accelerating India’s journey toward becoming a global startup hub. Under the MoU, Kotak Mahindra Bank will extend a range of dedicated offerings for DPIIT-recognised startups, including zero-balance current accounts, working capital and term loans, API-based banking platforms, digital payment solutions, and specialized startup cards.

India invites Canadian PM Carney for talks with PM Modi to boost trade, economic ties: Canadian media
Dinesh Kumar Patnaik, India’s new High Commissioner to Canada, told The Globe and Mail that both countries are making a “sincere effort” to repair strained diplomatic relations and focus on trade and investment amid ongoing tariff tensions with the United States. “Bilateral trade could exceed $50 billion annually if a far-reaching deal is reached”, he said. “We want an early visit of the Prime Minister to India”, Patnaik said. “It is a relationship we do not want to go downhill”, he noted.
