Training on natural farming pushes for sustainable agriculture.
A comprehensive four-day training programme on natural farming targeting scientists from the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), representatives from Local Natural Farming Institutions (LNFI) and Farmer Master Trainers (FMTs), focusing on enhancing skills in sustainable agricultural practices was held recently at Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan. This training was organised under the National Mission on Natural Farming, with the university recognised as one of the seven centres of natural farming by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

10,000 FPOs target achieved before March 31 deadline, says Indian PM Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the target of creating 10,000 farmer producer organisations (FPOs) has been achieved before the deadline, March 31, 2025, with the formation of an FPO in Khagaria district in Bihar. The announcement was made during an event in Bhagalpur, Bihar, where he released the 19th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme of over Rs.22,000 crore. The money got transferred to bank accounts of 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore women across the country.

The 30th edition of Gulfood, the world’s largest annual food and beverage trade show, is set to be its most expansive yet, with first-time participation from Kosovo, Zambia, Mauritius, and Madagascar. Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event features over 5,500 exhibitors from 129 countries, showcasing more than one million products across 24 halls and 1.3 million square feet of exhibition space.

Cambodia, India explore opportunities for cashew nut export.
Samheng Bora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce and Chairman of the Export Promotion Task Force has engaged in strategic discussions with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and five major Indian cashew buyers to explore opportunities for exporting Cambodian cashew nuts to the Indian market and globally. The meeting, held on February 23 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, focused on Cambodia’s cashew production capacity, quality standards, and export potential.

India eyes more than doubling spices exports to $10 billion by 2030.
India is eyeing to more than double the spices export over the next five years targeting shipments of $10 billion by 2030 and $25 billion by 2047, said Spices Board Secretary P Hemalatha on Monday. In 2023-24, India’s spices exports were $4.4 billion. Delivering the special address at the inauguration of the International Spice Conference (ISC) 2025, organised by the All India Spices Exporters Forum (AISEF), Hemalatha said the Spices Board has implemented stringent quality control measures, including mandatory ethylene oxide (ETO) testing for exports destined to European Union and also to countries such as Hong Kong and Singapore, to enhance food safety and compliance.

European Commission set to visit India to discuss trade with PM Modi.
A full delegation of the European Commission will be in India for two days (February 27-28) to hold a plenary session with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss trade, economic security and resilient supply chains. The second meeting of the EU-India Trade and Technology Council (TTC) will be held during this visit, with discussions covering clean technologies, digital infrastructure and the compatibility of trade systems.

Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal sounded bullish on the forthcoming trade talks with the Trump administration, promising a 'mother-of-all' bilateral trade deals with the US soon.
